Bravo, Canada!
Bravo, Canada!
I thought you needed to be a federally licensed firearms dealer to buy/sell pre-1986 Thompsons, and the permit laws to purchase/own one are so stringently regulated that it's hardly worth the effort.
In other words -- it's who you know.

Alberta has long been miffed at how much they "contribute" to government coffers and get in return ... more stuff they don't need and little to none of what they do need.
Perhaps Trump needs to offer them statehood.
Now that sounds like a good idea; there are good people in Canada. And all they have to do is vote to join the US and they are out of Canada. I wonder if they know it? Perhaps the CIA should make it known to the people of Alberta.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

Those are collectables just like car, coins, antiques.
The difference is you have to live in a state that allows you to own a class 3 weapon, you pay the tax (non refundable), you get permission from the local sheriff or chief of police (that may have changed) who fingerprints you and sends that off to the ATF for the background check.
When and if it's approved after maybe a year for a first weapon you can pick it up at the dealer after paying lots of money. Not all FFL's deal in class 3 weapons. There are regulations including use of the weapon, changes of address, etc.
The ATF has the right to inspect your place of residence if that's where it's stored whenever they want to.
Generally they cannot be used for CCW. I did hear of someone in Massachusetts that had permission to do so. Generally they cannot be used for hunting. I think that may be legal somewhere.

Exactly why I wrote it was pity the ARMY didn't obliterate every last terrorist confronting the forces of lawnorder. (I can read you know).

Do you think the sheriffs that have refused to carry out laws and some of the executive orders of governors should be treated the same? I like the fact that in the USA you can vote with your feet.MajGenl.Meade wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 5:30 amAnd that's why I said it was a pity. They can't. They should. If you don't like the way the state is run you can move to one with laws or a lack of laws to your liking. If you don't want to pay a state income tax move to a state w/o one.
Want to collect class 3 weapons, move to a state that doesn't prohibit it.
Want to defend your family w/o fear of prosecution, move to a state that favors that.
Tired of the yearly raping of sky high property tax, move to a state that doesn't do that.
Tired of supporting legions of state employees making six figure incomes and retiring with same, move.
Tired of living in a state where cities have become depositories of human waste, move.
Tired of sitting in freeway parking lots on the way to work, move.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

How odd then that your initial impulse was "if you don't like the way the state is run, gather powerful weapons and threaten to kill law officers trying to do their job". Another nice pivot

I'm not sure what you're referring to. If it was the Bundy incident I have a first person experience you wouldn't believe so why bother.MajGenl.Meade wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 2:58 pmHow odd then that your initial impulse was "if you don't like the way the state is run, gather powerful weapons and threaten to kill law officers trying to do their job". If you don't understand range utilization and the political factors behind the BLM's actions it looks like they were the good guys. They weren't. Did they deserve to be killed because they followed orders, no.
Wisely they understood the futility of their situation and backed off.
If you're not an American or one that grew up and were subject to some of the aftermath of the Vietnam War I can understand your inability to understand.

Another dazzling pivot! Well done.
See, your Bundy people just didn't take your advice. They did not move away, which you now claim is a correct response to "not liking the laws" and so on
Make up your mind - is it move away or resist with firearms? Which "America" do you think is better?
PS I marched against the Vietnam War, demonstrated against the gym at Kent State, mobilized for the ERA, and was duly moved and amazed at the Vietnam memorial in DC. I bet I understand more than you might think. What the hell happened to me?

Re: Bravo, Canada!
There were people who moved west after the Revolutionary War. Not because they didn't believe in the war and independence. Instead they were pissed that Congress did not repay debts. There's a connection between that and the Bundys. I don't expect you to understand that. Neither did I until a few years ago.MajGenl.Meade wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 5:05 pmAnother dazzling pivot! To further elaborate I'll be happy to piss on Jane Fonda's grave even if I have to stand in line.

Bravo, Canada!
By the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, North Vietnam (NVA) was directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths of over 58,100 American lives. In 2001 the U.S.-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) went into effect. The US has had friendly relations with our notorious former enemy ever since.
In 1972, Jane Fonda, a foolish, dumb thinking, overentitled (her words,) "B" rated Hollywood actor, was photographed sitting on an anti-aircraft gun in North Vietnam. Now, almost 50 years later, and thousands of sincere apologies and charitable works later, she is still being mocked and vilified by not only a small group of US veterans who served in country, but also, and mostly, by pseudo patriots who think it's their duty to shout down the 82 year old Fonda to her grave. Keep in mind, she killed no one -- in war or in peace -- this whole time.
It amazes me how some people can hold on to bitterness and grudges from a long distance past, and never learning how, nor wanting, to let go.
Some shit just doesn't matter. This is one example.

“In a world whose absurdity appears to be so impenetrable, we simply must reach a greater degree of understanding among us, a greater sincerity.”
Re: Bravo, Canada!
Actually it does matter greatly. The follow on effects damaged many aspects of life in the US.
Start another thread if you'd like to discuss it further. Like many apologists for Fonda, et al, I doubt you have the balls.

That's really mature of you, Darren.
And starting a new thread? Pfft! That's your specialty.
