For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

MLK said it best: "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear."
“I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks.” ~ Ruth Bader Ginsburg, paraphrasing Sarah Moore Grimké

I don't see how wishing ill upon those with whom I fully disagree makes me small minded or hate filled.
If you don't see a difference between (say) hoping that Trump loses in November; or that he will be impeached for his actual acts; or that he resigns in shame and is cast on the Harts Island of history
AND
I go to bed every night wishing some terminal illness, or even a hemorrhagic stroke, overcomes our narcissist, Grifter-in-Chief. I recent put Rush on that same wish list
then I feel even sorrier for you than I did before. It is both small-minded and hate-filled to hope another human being, no matter how much one despises him/her, dies in agonizing pain.
Hmm. Another opinion that needs to be considered.

This may take some time to suss out.

Karl Popper said it best: "In order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance."

It's a paradox of course. I hope I would have had the strength to support the ACLU when they represented the Skokie Nazis. (I probably would have stayed in bed and covered my ears.). But Limbaugh has been so toxic for so long he is, in my view, a special case,

When might it have been appropriate to nurse such wishes for, for example, Hitler? 1933 (Chancellor)? 1938 (Kristallnacht)? 1942 (Wannsee)? Never? (Apologies for the descent into Godwin territory.)

Do I wish a painful death on Limbaugh? In reality I don't waste time wishing for things I cannot influence. If I had the power to do so, would I use it? If I had that power it would be a curious God who would imbue me with that ability without giving me, at the same time, the capability of doing a lot else besides. So I would probably just wave my wand and raise the comprehension level of radio listeners so that he was consigned to obscurity and irrelevance. Which might in fact be a more painful and lingering exit for the man than medical science can imagine.

I think it’s a more than a bit laughable when people who go out of their way to be hurtful and cruel to members of their community preach on loving kindness toward strangers of any ilk.

I certainly wished Rush gone for many years, but never specifically wished he’d get cancer. Yes I've engaged in Schadenfreude since his diagnosis revelation - he’s a warped twisted piece of shit who enriched himself sowing hatred and vilifying people like me among many others. I’ve no doubt millions share my perspective, not just the few here who have honestly shared their feelings.

I’ve watched no fewer than half a dozen beloved relatives and close friends succumb to the ravages of cancer, and have been on the hospice nursing team for several more cancer patients who become very dear to me. We all just lost our friend Jim to the ravages of the disease.

It’s only fair that fucking plague occasionally afflicts a horrible human being along with all the lovely people it steals from us.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Oh, no! Is it possible that someone from my shadowy past wished for me to get cancer? Damn you, that person. On the other hand, what an achievement, that's some powerful voodoo.

Just because I'm now well connected to this disease it shouldn't mean I have some moral imperative to stop wishing small minded, hate filled people of power from experiencing some kind of plague or pestilence from visiting their doorways.

Hey, it makes me feel better, and it's just the type of energy I need to maintain my balance while going through chemotherapy. Two weeks down -- twenty-five to go.

Forget the prayer, my thoughts are concentrated on doing whatever else it takes.

If I did prayers I would definitely send one or two your way, Ray. Or become a Muslim and go to Mecca and pray there for you 'cos they count extra - some say 100,000x extra. I don't know if that factor has been peer reviewed.

Apparently LImbaugh has been saying that 'white privilege' does not exist during the course of an interview with Charlamagne the God. I assume that his objection was not purely semantic.

I see that there has been another 'entitled white woman' episode in NYC. Svitlina From called the cops because a young brown woman had the temerity to sit on a park bench in her, and Svitlana's, neighborhood. At least in this case the police - no doubt politely - pointed out that she was breaking no law in doing so and declined to help.

Apparently Svitlina is a lifestyle entertaining expert. Nice work if you can get it.
