However as most drummer based pools still rate Rich at the top, then respect should be given to that. (Respect should also be shown to other high ranked drummers to, unless you are a stupid spoiled child who cannot bear to have your views challenged, ;) )
Yeah, I think a better way to put it is that there is a pantheon of [name your instrument] gods, each for various reasons. Along with Buddy Rich (and Max Roach and Art Blakey, who I mentioned before), the pantheon for drums should rightly include Philly Joe Jones, Jack DeJohnette, Elvin Jones and Tony Williams.

Don't be silly! The greatest guitarist ever is Phil Keaggy. Hendrix said so... :nana
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Back on topic, I had dinner with a drummer friend last night and asked him who was his all-time favorite drummer. He said that after growing up on Buddy Rich and for a while idolizing Neil Peart, he has now settled on Simon Phillips.
