Wow...never voice-type and post without proofreading! I would correct it...but I have absolutely no idea what that was supposed to be.
I heard that a bunch of runners, upon finishing, kept going: they ran to Mass General Hospital to donate blood!
I think it is foreign, to me the event appears to be to sophisticated to be domestic unless the usual suspect have improved their capabilities. Obviously it was not a black power explosion and obtaining the chemicals need for more powerful explosives attracts too much BTF attention. So the boomers either had to make their own chemicals or clandestinely import either the chemicals or the explosives. To me that indicate a well finance and sophisticated group.
Well , it could be dynamite but in that case there will soon be suspects; dynamite is well regulated.
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.
Thats your own prejudices -- in fact the words used by police so far to describe the bombs are "crude" and "unsophisticated." There are reports from the hospitals of ball bearings being taken out of victims.
Injury tally up over 120. We are "lucky" that so many medical personnel and responders were already on site because of the race, and that there are so many wonderful hospitals right in the city. I am sure that will save lives.

"No suspect" at Brighams hospital. FBI in charge of investigation. Tomorrow will *not* be business as usual.

I'd bet on a tax day connection, or some lunatic asserting their "patriotism" on Patriot's Day. After all, the original tea party was held just across town, under a mile away (although the finish area was mud flats at that time).
Or gun nuts - bombs near mile 26 where a memorial to the 26 Sandy Hook victims was constructed and a group of SH parents ran the race today to raise funds/awareness for gun control. Vote is also coming up in the Senate.

One thing that was apparent at that press briefing is that now that the FBI has taken over, the public is going to get very little information about the investigation, at least for the time being....
Nowadays, police departments rarely refer to anyone as a "suspect" unless they have someone in custody that they are charging with the crime, or there is someone at large that they plan to charge with a crime; (For months the police refused to formally call Scott Petersen a "suspect" even though by any commonsense definition he obviously was.)
Now they use the term "person of interest" which can refer to anyone from a person who previously would have been called a "suspect" to just someone they think might have seen something who they want to talk to...
At this point a number of other news organizations (including CNN and CBS) have confirmed through their sources sufficiently to go public with it, the story originally reported by the New York Post; that the police have a Saudi national at the hospital who they view as a person of interest, and that they're running down leads connected to that person...
But that could easily wind up being a blind alley...
At this point, this could have been the work of foreign terrorists, or foreign "inspired" terrorists, or right-wing domestic terrorists, or left-wing eco-terrorists, or just some guy with a gripe against the Boston water department...
What theory one will tend to gravitate towards I suppose would reflect one's own personal or political biases, (liberals will probably tend toward right-wing domestic theories, conservatives towards Islamicists) but based on what little we know now, the fair position to take is there simply isn't enough information known to rule any possibility in or out.

I may turn out to be wrong about this, but I personally question the significance of the date versus the significance of a target of opportunity that draws 500,000 people (and a lot of media coverage) to a venue where there are sure to be security gaps....
There's no way the police could have been expected to inspect every back pack, even within the security perimeter, at an outdoor event that large where so many people would have backpacks for perfectly legitimate reasons...
I think this would have been an attractive target for whoever did this no matter when it was held.

I don't know about obvious mate; "I don't like the idea of gun restrictions, so I'm going to blow up some marathon runners," is the logic of the madhous, and not an obvious one to me!!

You said 'undetonated bomb'.
