The general snottiness doesn't take away from the fact that rubato is correct, and Cruz is a fucking hypocrite:

I thought that too obvious to really need further illustration
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

It wasn't whether he was right or wrong, just his Aspergerish monomania about bringing "Republicans Bad!Ugh!!" into every fucking thread no matter what the topic.

More rain is expected in the southern US as recovery efforts for missing people continue across Texas and Oklahoma.

A dam in southwest Texas was topped with water on Wednesday morning, but officials said it will not break.

The death toll from deadly storms in the two states has risen to 21.

Forecasters have said more heavy rains are expected over the next few days, hitting the area with up to three more inches of rain.

This May has been the wettest month on record for Texas.

After a near dam break on Wednesday, rain-swollen rivers, creeks and lakes are now posing a threat to Texas and Oklahoma residents.

On Thursday, residents living in Wharton, a town southwest of Houston, were told to evacuate their homes due to a predicted rise of the Colorado River.

And, apparently, the Pavlovian response that generates from both you and Jim. God forbid you let the rest of us actually make up our own minds what to think about his posts, without your very special guidance.

What little I know of Ted Cruz, I don't like much, but this simplistic comparison is for simpletons -- it's appealing on the surface, but there are good reasons why a principled person could take his positions (not saying he is principled).
Cruz argued that the Hurricane Sandy aid package was bloated with unrelated spending items.

"Two-thirds of this spending is not remotely 'emergency'; the Congressional Budget Office estimates that only 30 percent of the authorized funds would be spent in the next 20 months, and over a billion dollars will be spent as late as 2021," Cruz told the Houston Chronicle at the time.

If that is the case -- that very little of the funding for Sandy relief was going to true emergency aid -- then voting against the bill because it is a bad bill does not make him a hypocrite for later voting for good disaster relief bills, even ones that benefit his state. I would think his entire record of voting on disaster relief bills would need to be examined to see if he is being hypocritical in supporting this particular aid for Texas. But that might take some research and thinking, two things in short supply in today's media, and hardly profitable when a media source can get people hyperventilating by putting up a typical sensational story.

Oh please!

What's missing (and underscores the hypocrisy) is two-fold: first, any understanding of the disaster relief process and timelines. Yep, it can take months and months to clean up and rebuild. Second, looking at the Texas relief bill or bills with a similar mode of analysis and critique as was the Sandy relief.

Instead, it's gimme gimme gimme.

If the relief effort/money is/goes anything like the Sandy relief, it will take more than a few years to first get the money and rebuild.
Sandy relief was, and continues to be a large clusterf^%k.

The latest in a long line of screwups is the rewriting of field engineers reports so claims could be lowered or denied.
Good luck Texas.
