Fomite transmission is extremely rare, which is researcher lingo for no one is getting Covid touching a surface then putting their unwashed hand in their mouth. However, all the hand-washing and surface wiping (and physical distancing) should make this a pretty mild cold and flu season. Although, I like the image of spraying Lysol all over a plate of food, making many parts edible
I should 'splain better. All this stuff was placed in metal pans on would find used for storage on would use in a restaurant because SIL runs one. We sprayed the pans on the outside surface and no food was touched by Lysol.
Joe, you can feel free to used Lysol as salad dressing if you wish.
I never lost my senses of taste or smell, although they were "off". My taste for hospital food was greatly stifled by its arrival to the covid unit so cold that corn or pancakes would not melt butter. The covid wing must have been the farthest from the kitchen. The second time my lunch arrived cold, after I was out of the ICU, I ordered a meatball marinara sandwich via Uber Eats. It was delivered to the hospital's front door, and brought to my room. It cost me $13, but arrived warm enough to eat. I must have made my point, because after that my food arrived hot.
Thank you nurses for zapping my subsequent meals in a nearby microwave before bringing them in.

Like many little old ladies, my Mom lived on tea and soup. But god forbid it wasn’t hot enough. You don’t know how many times I had to make it hotter, whether at my house, someone else’s, the hospital or rehab. Usually the staff was grateful someone else would take care of it for them. Of course, that was pre-COVID.

Well to keep it real you must first tell me your food is too cold. Fair enough I take it off to nuke it. Upon my return you will then announce that you want some condiments. Off I go. The you decide you want coffee. And it never ends. I fantasize about dropping a tray on your little pumpkin head.
That's my wife doing it all (both sides) on a fairly regular basis. My food gets cold while I wait for her to catch up. Good job I don't care if it's hot or not. (That drives her wild)

I just came back from the emergent care place. I suddenly have a raging UTI, in spite of the fact that that I have pushed fluids as much as I could manage. It was slightly weird, I told them up front that I am covid + but that's not why I was presenting. I could not help but note that they were wearing those cheap masks, not the N95's, and face shields. I was thinking, yeah, I was geared up better than that and still got the bug.
Meanwhile, other than covid and a UTI I am doing just great!
I am not one to temp fate, but I want one of these shirts.

True story.
The problem was, once the tray came into the covid unit, they could not take it back out to the microwave. All the Styrofoam plates, trays, and plastic utinsels were trashed in my room. I wondered if they were nuking other patient's meals before entering, but they sure took good care of me. I even sent them a thank you letter after I was home. They were great.
