I think that pretty much hits the nail on the head Joe...

I said a long time ago that I believe that rube is in a subordinate position in his marriage, and he's low man on the totem pole at work, and therefore he has to suffer in silence and eat a lot of shit both at home and at work.

This has made him frustrated and bitter (he believes he deserves better) but he really has no choice. So he comes here to work off his frustrations and talk to people in the way he wishes he could in real life, but doesn't dare. He comes here to give to others what he wishes that he could give to those that are causing him his grief.

He also portrays himself here as the way he wishes he was but really isn't. (One thing you can be absolutely certain of is that when a person feels the need to constantly brag about how great their life is and how good they've got it, their life ain't all that great...People who are genuinely happy and secure don't feel compelled to do this.)

As for the drinking...

He went through a period several years ago where it had gotten really bad, (I think he may have lost his job; he was posting drunk more days of the week then not.) but now he seems to confine it just to mainly Saturday afternoon and early evening. (I'm guessing the missus is probably working a shift then....I doubt she approves of his boozing)

In addition to "twy" he has several other "tells" that he's been hitting the sauce. He starts talking like Elmer Fudd, (not just the "twy") sometimes he'll start going nuts with exclamation points, and usually the number of obscenities in his posts also go up. He also frequently will start posting at a frantic pace dropping insults into four or more threads in rapid succession....

When he gets called on it your right, he will frequently leave for a little while and then come back with a bigger heat on...

But then usually a few posts after that he disappears...(apparently to sleep it off.)

And let it be said that I've never glossed over the troubles that I once had in my life and I still have many.....so what. Anyone here can PM me and I'll spill my guts.

The difference between rube and I is that he does not have the courage or self-awareness to face his "dark side". He projects all the shiit that he doesn't like onto others. This is a very primitive ego defense mechanism. Not uncommon. He is mired in an infantile stage of development having never blossomed into a fully-functioning well-balanced adult. Somewhere along the line his growth became truncated for reasons only known or not known to the rube.

He needs to face his demons and move on with his life.

I've certainly noticed his vitriol increases on the weekends, daytime drinking would be my guess.

My guess would also be that rubato is in what is known as a lavender marriage.

The job application has a posted salary range. If the offer is nearer the top the total cut (salary, patent bonuses, and 401k match) will be closer to $30,000 than $20K after re-calculation (which I did mention before) if it is nearer the bottom the cut will be even more. I would like to get an offer but if it is too near the bottom I don't think I can do it.
