Lo's Inquisition
Re: Lo's Inquisition
With all due respect Guin, I don't think that you have any more right to demand that this thread be locked than Jarl has to demand that lo attends rehab...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

The "hate Loca" thing exists because Gab-Sean-Hen-LJ &c all want it to enough to mis-interpret comments to make it so and pervert threads and comments to this end. A habit they exhibit elsewhere as well.

Problem is if I lock this thread all the shit in it will explode all over the rest of the board.

Especially as stirred as this pot is at the moment....

Re: Lo's Inquisition
I disagree. It's mostly been contained, as previously acknowledged in this thread. But if you really think its just going elsewhere impose and enforce the same rules as during mediation: no discussion of the issue or stirring the pot via other threads or they will be deleted. If the members don't comply then lock it all down for a 48 hours cooling off period.

Sean, I think the distinction is board conduct v off board conduct.Sean wrote:With all due respect Guin, I don't think that you have any more right to demand that this thread be locked than Jarl has to demand that lo attends rehab...
But I'm going to take my own advice, shut up, and leave the decision making up to the admins.

If you lock this thread and ban Loca the shit-meisters will just move on to another target. They have shown since "Frenchy" was hounded off the prior board that all they want is shit and they'll do anything to get it.Daisy wrote:Problem is if I lock this thread all the shit in it will explode all over the rest of the board.

BTW Andrew, I hope you have a contingency plan for the inevitable day that LoCa asks if she can move in and replace your wife.Andrew D wrote:By the way, Hen, I hope that you and Hatch have a contingency plan for the inevitable day when Gob abandons both of you.
P.S. I didn't cast a vote in that other thread yet. At this time I don't think Loca should be suspended.
I think she should suspend herself for her own good.

Re: Lo's Inquisition
Just catching up with this thread, on page 6 currently, so some of this may be old and hashed out already but some things I want to comment on and will be doing so as I get to them.
Having been in many an AA meeting (I average 9 meetings a week) and met many an alcoholic (from those who have shown up still drinking to those who have been sober for 50+ years) almost all will tell you that their financial troubles were caused more by their drinking rather than financial problems causing them to drink. In fact the overriding theme from just about everyone is that drinking was the direct cause of their financial ruin.
ETA
It is true that financial stress has been known to cause people to over indulge and possibly become alcoholics, but that is true of any stress in ones life be it marital/relationship problems, over/under work, feelings of inadequacy..... Alcholism is really just a symptom of other problems/personality/character defects.loCAtek wrote:
financial stress does indeed trigger alcoholism; that's a known fact.

I read somewhere that the number one cause of death among alcoholics is suicide. If you've noticed, folks in this country have been driven to suicide and murder because of it, too.

Re: Lo's Inquisition
On page 9
(aka personality defects). Drinking merely took the pain away. If it wasn't an abusive relationship, some other "crisis" would have come up that you (and all other alcoholics) would have drank over.

Um uh I do believe the cart needs to be put behind the horse. A personality/character defect is what caused you to drink. Drinking was but a symptom of this defect. You may have low self esteem (most alcoholics do, me included) or you felt inferior or not as smart or pretty or were subjugated and drinking took away those feelings/thoughts. Allowing the abuse to continue and not having the backbone to stop it were the diseaseloCAtek wrote:Let's look at this chronologically, as most of you were there while I posted married to this snake;
I was manipulated and abused for almost ten years.
Then!
I admit to becoming an alcoholic, albeit five years later.

Cause and effect, anyone? Should seem obvious...
BTW it doesn't work the other way round
