Re: Passing?
She wanted to paint it black
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Based on what I have seen on black web sites, there are blacks that try to make whites feel guilty about the actions of their ancestors. This is foolishness; no one is responsible for their ancestors. (See both the Bible and the US Constitution.) As she attended and graduated from a predominate black college she could have come under a lot guilt pressure that might have not been good for her mental health. In my pinion, a poor self image is not a healthy mind set.
Correction, the words that are quoted above are not BSG words but part of the article she quoted.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.
Re: Passing?
I'd bet that crazy ass lawsuit against Howard was the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of getting her to quit. It's hard to imagine even the people who were defending her continuing to do so after that came to light...
What she should do now is get out of the lime light and check herself into a hospital to get some help. What she will undoubtedly do instead is write a book. And she'll probably make a tidy sum off of it.
I understand she's got a number of interviews scheduled for today, starting with The Today Show...
I'm sure she's going to milk the "celebrity status" for all it's worth....
It's kind of disgusting that she's going to be rewarded and profit off this con job, but that's the way it works nowadays...

Re: Passing?
So stop writing about her, reading about her, and talking about her. And don't watch her interviews.

Re: Passing?
fake quote from miss dolezal "my family was so poor, we had to adopt black children! from south Africa!"
Re: Passing?
If she had moved to South Africa long enough to become a citizen and then moved back the US as a dual citizen would she then be an African American?
White Africans that move to the US; are they African
Americans?

Re: Passing?
You've got to be kidding...got no questions about the fake hate mail.
Who is such a poor interviewer that they didn't bother to bring that up? Was it Savannah or Matt? I can certainly understand a lawyer advising her not to answer any questions about it, (since there are potential legal charges) but the attempt should at least have been made. (If they agreed in advance not to ask any questions about it, that fact should have been disclosed on the air.)
Did she at least get questions about her lawsuit against Howard?

Re: Passing?
yes about howard suit. some tough but gentle questions, I think that matt was inhibited by the presence, just off camera of her sons.
she seems to be a master manipulator

Re: Passing?
Okay, I've watched it for myself now...
Lauer gets a nomination for Dumb Schmuck Of The Year for not asking about the hate mail; hell, she even brought it up....
He did ask some tough questions, but no probing follow ups on her answers which really let her slide. She claims her racial background is "complex"... (in fact "it's more complex than that" was one of her favorite answers) No Rachel, it's not "complex"; it's "European"...(I read yesterday somewhere that she was even trying to get off with, "Well, we all came from Africa originally"...
)
Matt should have gone on to ask her what she meant by "complex" and challenge her on it. He dropped the ball.

Re: Passing?
BSG--
If the NAACP position (or the professorship or the position with the city board) was somehow reserved for persons of black descent (and that was defined sufficiently to be understood by any who chose to apply) then I agree with you; ditto for AA college admissions. But I think her dishonesty in presenting herself AS BLACK (not as choosing to identify as black), to garner an Africana studies college teaching position, a leadership position with NAACP, and a position on the Spokane city board is reprehensible.
It's no different than the people who lie on their college applications to get the benefit of affirmative action programs - and there are people who do that, far too frequently.
Re: Passing?
Another really obvious question that he didn't ask her was why she quit as Spokane NAACP President...
She claimed that she wasn't "deceiving" anyone, so why did she have to quit? Was she getting any pressure from her executive committee members? None of this was asked about...
He also didn't ask her if she also plans to resign from the police oversight commission (which she is the Chairwoman of) or about her checking the box for "African American" on the application for that post.
These are all incredibly obvious questions.
Maybe he was reigned in somewhat because her kids were there, (though they weren't on the set) but if that's the case that certainly isn't very professional for him to allow his journalistic obligations to be compromised for that reason.
Overall a really piss poor job.

Re: Passing?
I didn't see this interview, but I've never thought of Mat as a particularly good interviewer, and forget about Savannah. Face it, the Today show is mostly fluff, with a couple of more hard news stories thrown in and being given the fluff treatment.
