Same here for ages 18-21. I believe the courts have upheld this disparate treatment for divorced parents versus married on the basis that life is tougher for a kid from a split home (to get around the equal protection arguments).Big RR wrote:I am not sure, but in my state (NJ) I have only seen it in connection with a divorce. With respect to the recent scam of parents transferring guardianship, kudos to the high school counselor who saw something wasn't right and followed up with questions.
