Still waiting for a number, Darren. How many deaths before a media-manufactured crisis becomes the real thing?

Re: Coronavirus
Let's hope the worst case scenario is not borne out . . .
https://www.aol.com/article/news/2020/0 ... /24392400/WASHINGTON — More than a dozen sailors from the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt have tested positive for COVID-19 after they were believed to have recovered, which medical experts say shows how much remains unknown about the virus that causes the disease . . . The significance of that finding is unclear, according to experts: It most likely reflects the presence of harmless, noninfectious viral particles, but researchers can’t yet rule out the possibility that the patients became reinfected, which would cast doubt on prospects for widespread immunity.
On balance, experts said, the uptick of positive cases on the carrier more likely exposes the limits of testing than it signifies episodes of reinfection. But even that raises a tough question for societies: what to do with people who test positive but probably are not infectious . . . The worst-case scenario, both for the Theodore Roosevelt and for society at large, would be if the individuals who tested positive after recovering from COVID-19 had actually been reinfected, because that would not only mean they are capable of infecting others, but it would also imply that recovery from the disease confers little to no immunity against reinfection.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Speaking of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, it's close to a month since Navy brass recommended that Capt Crozier get his old job back.
Apparently he is San Diego on a temporary desk job. I am sure that someone somewhere is embarking on a CYA exercise.
(Both citations are to the Navy Times.)

I saw his comments on that. The thing is, in my state at least (well, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) houses of worship are not part of the “mandatory” closure. It is recommended that churches suspend their in-person services but not required and I’m sure it’s addressed similarly in other states. Trump and his cronies are probably counting on his followers not understanding that nuance to drum up “the democrats are taking your right to worship”. Unfortunately, the average Trump voter is either not intelligent enough or willfully ignoring that to subscribe to his narrative.
I’m in leadership at my church. We’ve been recording sermons and such to distribute via YouTube for our members. While PA is supposed to move to the “yellow phase” in the next couple of weeks, when we open our facility will be up to our church leadership - not the governor, president or anyone else.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Hello! Remember me?!
Well hey guess what! Cases are on the rise in 19 states, largely having to do with relaxed adherence to social distancing and masking and the reopening of the economy. Arizona is experiencing an alarming rise in cases, Banner Health issued a warning that they’re almost at capacity with cases rising steadily and the state has advised medical facilities to put emergency plans in place ASAP.
At current rates of mortality, we’ll have 200,000 dead by end of August. Since many Americans seem determined to say ‘fuck off’ to public health advisories, it really does look like we will be seeing 30,000/mo. fatalities until a vaccine comes along or the virus burns through our society.
Dr. Osterholm was right - it’s gonna kill 800,000 to 1 million of us.
Yay USA! We’re #1!
