One of the reasons I no longer keep cats and really don’t care to live with them is how they walk EVERYWHERE with their shit and bacteria laden paws. One of the great advantages of dogs - beyond keener intelligence and a willingness to copilot anywhere - is that they generally aren’t all over the counters, tables, tops of cabinets and appliances, etc.

I found a squirt bottle to be quite effective of ridding kitty of those behaviors.

When I owned a cat, she was happy just to hang around, in fact she didn't even scratch my furniture.

She was a lovely creature.

Almost as pleasant as my Jack Russell.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Interesting. I had you pegged as a founding member of Future Crazy Old Cat Ladies of America.

My mistake.

As for me I love kitties and doggies equally.

As in, both are equally fun to kick, along with small children.

Pegged yourself. :nana :fu

Well, obviously, you need to train them to learn to wash their feet — maybe put out little bowls of sanitizer for them? — and to stay off the table, counters, etc.
Good luck.  But at least it will keep you occupied and out of mischief yourself.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Here's a puzzler for you.  You're in a room with a rabid pit bull, a rattlesnake, and Donald Trump.  You have a pistol, but there are only two rounds in the magazine.  What do you do?

Shoot Trump twice, then grab the rattlesnake, break its neck, and use it as a garrotte to strangle the pit bull.

I'd just leave the room and lock the door.

Same here; Trump doesn’t deserve a good clean quick end. A long torturous bleeding out while being eaten alive by a rabid pitbull would be just the ticket. The rattler will take care of the pitbull, but will likely get killed in the process. Tidy.

Half of all fatal dog attacks are from pit bulls.

Now I have met a lot of pit bulls who were very sweet dogs including my neighbors who have the slobberiest and nicest dog. But any pit that shows personality problems should be put down immediately. Those genes need to be taken out of the breed.

Sadly a lot of pit bull maulings and killings of humans are accompanied by owner claims that the dog(s) never exhibited aggression toward anyone.

I suspect that the vast majority of even ‘good’ dog owners are utterly clueless about the body language dogs exhibit across a range of ‘feelings’, but that might not be the issue because pit bulls were specifically bred for hundreds of generations NOT to exhibit the typical clear signs of mounting aggression before attacking - that’s likely why so many people claim the dog just SNAPPED or went BESERK.

That particular type of behavior trait in the breed can’t be selected out, it’s hardwired across the breed. Fighting dogs are different from other breeds that way. There’s a ton of literature that discusses this aspect of the problem with fighting dog breeds.

I would never own any of them myself, and avoid them whenever possible.
