Did I miss another post on the subject or is terrorism not that interesting anymore?
39 dead in Kenya mall attack; hostages still held
The Story
Terrorists - Just another day around here?
Re: Terrorists - Just another day around here?
Yep, just another day....
At least 60 people have been killed at a funeral in the mainly Shia Muslim Sadr City district of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
A tent where mourners were gathered was hit by two explosions, one of them a suicide car bomb.
A third explosion followed as police, ambulances and firefighters gathered at the scene, according to one report.
Officials reported that women and children were among the dead and that more than 120 people had been injured.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, which happened early on Saturday evening.
The explosions reportedly set the tents and nearby cars on fire, with eyewitnesses describing the scene as an "inferno"
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
Re: Terrorists - Just another day around here?
Joe, I followed that story on the news yesterday, but I didn't spend much time at the forum. (If you look around, you'll see there weren't that many posts from anybody about anything yesterday.)
It took a large organized effort because unlike most US malls, this one has pretty strong security protocols at the entry points. (Similar to what ours are like at government buildings.)
The attack was apparently carried out by the Shabab, a particularly nasty and blood thirsty Islamacist bunch that operates in Somalia.

The death toll is now up to 59; 30 are still held hostage...
These are not the kind of folks who are much given to negociated surrenders, so I wouldn't hold out much hope for those still being held...
I imagine it won't be too much longer before the authorities launch an assault. That will mean some hostages will probably be killed, but at least some might survive....(They've got some Israeli experts on the scene now who I'm sure are advising them on the best way to carry out the assault to minimize the number of hostages that will be killed.)
If left with these bastards long enough, every single one of them will be killed...

I agree Jim, especially since they said they didn't want to negotiate; it doesn't really make sense, but then things like this seldom do.
