Does anyone here think that is a good idea?

Fantastic! Long over due!

Many planes already have cell phones you can use, often at your seat, for a fee of many dollars per minute payable to the airlines. I'm not surprised the airlines are against it, it cuts their ad on profits.

And FWIW, it seems like the only thing to be allowed is to use the phone for texting or data, not speaking. Hardly that annoying at least anymore than use of computers or tablets. And even cell phone conversations are no less annoying because the airline is getting a big fee, nor are they more annoying than people just sitting and gabbing the whole flight.

I like the idea of 500 pound people talking on their phones and vaping next to me. Since they've done about all they can to make flying a yucky experience, why not go all the way!

And it allows quarter ton people to order a pizza and have it ready for landing.

It's the kind of thing only a republican could like. Less government and more irritation - as demonstrated in the chart below....

I'm surprised the airlines are against this. They need to add hardware to the plane to allow the cell phones to operate, thus they can charge another fee to people who want to use their cell phone.
