There's a good reason for that...

I do...

For the first time since before the holidays I am actually home alone, all by myself..(well, except for three dogs, a cat and and a parrot)

The Warrior Princess went to a birthday/slumber party over at friends house, and Lady Kelly has gone down the Penninsula with The Little Prince to spend the night over at Little Sister's with her and her two little ones...(after a day of shopping...something else I'm most happy to have missed... )

Gee whiz it's been so long since I've actually been all alone by myself, (for a whole day and night) I almost forgot what it feels like...(I feel a little guilty about this, but to be honest, I'm really quite enjoying it...earlier today I actually started reading a book; and not a book with small words, large print and pictures of cartoon characters either; a proper grown up book...)

This momentary solitude will come to a crashing end tomorrow, as we have people coming over for the Super Bowl...

What should I do, what should I do....

I think I'll head over to our local public establishment for a couple of pops, maybe throw some darts, and then do something I only get to do when I'm alone...

Yes, that's right....

Order a pizza with anchovies!

And savor that gastronomic delight while watching episodes from Season 2 of Torchwood that I missed...

Yeah I know...

I'm a regular party animal...

I may even order double anchovies...

What can I say, I'm a rebel...

My mind of course went somewhere quite different.

But I'm totally with you on the pizza with anchovies. I can never get anyone to agree with me on that one when we order pizza, and I go mad for them.

I love anchovies on pizza with tuna, prawns and sweetcorn yummmyyyy. I also make a seafood pasta sauce with the same ingredients sometimes with chilli flakes sometimes extra garlic (depends on my mood) but always with anchovies.

I really don't understand how anyone can eat them. Way too salty. I dated a guy who insisted on pizza with them. It was a doomed relationship.

Anchovies drown out all of the other flavors on the pizza. I can eat them but not I'd rather have them on the side and throw one on to the pizza once in a while.

Anchovies chopped or pureed in some dishes adds good umami flavor, but on their own I can't manage them. And never on pizza.

But good for you, getting to do something you wanted to do all day. Those are rare opportunities and fun to have once in a blue moon!

In other news, Lord Jim was found on the floor of his living room this morning covered with anchovies and pizza crust. The Fire Department had received a call from a neighbor who said she could smell an extremely strong odor coming from his home and thought someone in the house had died.

A Paramedic knocked down the front door and LJ's feet were immediately elevated and he was successfully resuscitated which he appreciated.

After struggling to get his breath back, his first words were, "It was a one night stand and I made the most of it. I'm not sorry. Pardon me while I eat these leftovers."

His wife and daughter were not home at the time. When notified of the situation they said they were waiting for the home to be fumigated before they would return home.

This answers the question of why they offer anchovies on pizza. There are at least 4 people in the world who like them as a topping.

It was sumptuous...

I enjoyed the pizza immensely....

What we frequently do when we're having pizza out, is order the toppings we all like (like sausage and peperoni) and then get the the toppings we don't all like on the side, that we can add...

The kids like pineapple on the pizza... (to me that is utter blasphemy; I love fresh pineapple, but not on a pizza...the Good Lord did not intend for pizza to be sweet...I'd no more put pineapple chunks on a pizza then I would put banana slices or strawberries on it...)

On a rare occasion a Hawaiian pizza is good pineapple ham bacon but that is only once on a great while problem is the wife wants it all the freaking time
