The third death of a friend, in three weeks:

His body was found yesterday, floating in the Lake. Dan was a cyclist, triathlete (that's how we met), Springsteen junkie, and all around really good guy. I hope hope hope he was unconscious when he went overboard, and didn't suffer.

Oh, and wear your stinking life jackets, folks. They really can save your life.

I am genuinely sorry you are having such a crappy time of it with all this.

Thanks @W -- its been a strange, brutal summer, in a challenging year. Luckily, I have a fabu support network, understanding work colleagues, and I'm hanging in there.

My swede says its my age, and stuff like this starts to happen more and more. I suppose that's true, and I've been lucky in that I still have my own parents and all my dearest friends.

Geez Guin, this is really awful...you have my complete sympathy and best wishes...

There is something missing. Why was the boat 'disabled' but moving fast enough that a strong swimmer couldn't get back to it? Sounds like disabled sailors.

Sorry Guin - you've had more grief knocks recently than anyone should experience in such quick succession.

I'm not so broken up about that I want to take a swipe at someone else, that's true.
