I saw a couple of days ago where Iron Mike had shown up to appear with my favorite Mayor, The Honorable Robert Bruce Ford...
Seems like a match made in heaven...
It's not often that Hizzoner can find someone to pal around with who's his equal in the ability to embarrass oneself in public category...He sets a high standard in that regard...
Maybe next he'll start hanging out with Lindsay Lohan or Justin Bieber....

It is my sad duty to report that Hizzoner may be headed for defeat next month:
John Tory cements lead over Rob Ford as Olivia Chow’s campaign implodes in Toronto mayor’s race, new poll finds
John Tory has cemented his lead over Rob Ford in the Toronto mayoral race, while former front-runner Olivia Chow’s campaign sputters, a new poll suggests.
The Forum Research poll found 40% of the Toronto electorate supports Mr. Tory, with Rob Ford in a distant second with 28% and Ms. Chow with 21%.
“John Tory is clearly solidifying his lead as the campaign rolls into its final month,” Forum president Lorne Bozinoff said in a news release.
The Forum poll validated last week’s data from Nanos Research, which also marked Mr. Tory as a clear frontrunner with 42% share of the voting public. In that Sept. 2 poll, Rob Ford had the same 28% support and Chow followed closely with 26%.
But as little as two months ago, Forum poll data showed Ms. Chow leading the race.
The last Forum poll, conducted two weeks ago, saw Mr. Ford only three points behind Mr. Tory. But the latest data has Mr. Tory defeating the incumbent in every poll question, including who would best handle the city’s budget — “which always
used to be Rob Ford’s strength,” Mr. Bozinoff noted.
“This may be an indication that voters are finally paying attention to the ‘Ford Math,’ which rarely adds up, according to the experts,” he said. [Yeah, but Rob knows how many grams there are in an Eight Ball...]

However, the polls in this race have bounced around quite a bit over the past few months, and it only takes a plurality to win, so it's too early to give up hope...

The polls haven't really bounced around that much; what they have shown pretty consistently is John Tory's support taking off while Olivia Chow's has tanked, with Ford's support remaining pretty much within a narrow band.
And if Ford does win again I will be seriously considering moving somewhere that politics is conducted in a saner fashion, like Louisiana.

What an opportunistic POS. When it hadn't happened in time for the noon news, I assumed that they wouldn't attempt this stunt. Shows you what I get for overestimating people all the time.

Oh fuck, it's even more bizarre than I thought.
Doug Ford (the mayor's brother) will run for mayor. Rob Ford will be running for the council seat which he held prior to his brother. To accommodate this, their nephew (who only changed his name to Ford in time to put his name on the ballot a few months ago) will step away from the council race and run for school board trustee instead.
Anyone want to explain to me again how anyone still thinking about voting for any of these clowns shouldn't be forced to undergo a lobotomy?

Well, it doesn't seem that this was an "I think he has a better chance to win then I do" bait and switch...
It appears that Mayor McCrack may have a potentially serious health problem:
Toronto’s scandal-plagued mayor underwent multiple CT scans of his abdomen and chest, a biopsy and an ultrasound exam Thursday after being transferred to a second hospital for treatment of a suspected tumor.

In any event, it's distressing news....
Afterall, what is Toronto without Rob Ford?
It's well, just
Toronto...
Doug Ford may have the same last name, but it's not the same...
Sort of like getting Jerry Van Dyke rather than the real Dick...
Well maybe if Doug wins, and Hizonner's health rallies, Doug can resign and Rob can come back in a special election...
