Less than $10/hr for a supervisor?
And only 9.5 hours a week?

What kind of beni's does that job come with?

Well it's 10 pounds, so it's a bit more than dollars. I think a pound is worth around $1.60, so it's around $12.00 an hour.

As for benefits, there is national health care, so you don't need that; not sure what other benefits might be included.

It's just a hair under $12 (USD) per hour at the current exchange rate. Healthcare is provided through NHS. Obviously a p/t job making sure the cleaning crew has emptied the trash, swept the floors, etc. Probably comparable to the pay rate in the US for similar work, although the US employee would not have healthcare unless s/he qualified for Medicaid.

What's the big deal? I suspect Gob thinks the posting is somehow bizarre because a Polish-speaking candidate is preferred. In the US, you would undoubtedly see a similar posting with a Spanish-speaking candidate preferred. But so what?

it's a consequence/need of the job; I have many Spanish speaking clients and hired a receptionist based on an ability to speak Spanish; same with my legal assistant. No problem (anymore than being able to speak English would be).

No, I think they need them to speak English and polish - keep the furniture shining nicely.

For those who have trouble with English, the rate is 7.50 pounds/hr (not 10). So the equivalent is $11.98 today (or $12 as Big RR and Sue said) :)

For those challenged by math, 10 pounds x $1.60 would be er..... not $12 but $16. Check calculator batteries.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Virtually every US law firm that has individuals (rather than businesses) as clients puts a premium on Spanish-speaking attorneys and staff these days. For the last decade or so I have rather regretted taking French instead of Spanish in school.

My wife's friend is a nurse...her ability to speak Spanish and Portuguese helps greatly.
