Apparently my knowledge of last week's news is only half vast. 6/12 and 260.

10/12 for 463 consecutive draws in the world chess championship between Magnus Carlsen and Fabi Caruna. Actually as a cricket fan I don't mind a draw. This deserves a thread all to itself, but did anyone watch these games live? I did (for most of them, anyway) and found the commentary on chess24.com fascinating. And like cricket, when the action can get a little tedious at times, the commenters have to have a wealth of stories of perhaps tangential relevance to the game. Alexander Grischuk (Russian top 5 player) was hilarious. Peter Svidler (Russian top 5 player once but now that he's turned 40 [!!!] he is ranked world #21) was very good at explaining why the move I had thought of was particularly dumb and would lead to devastation in the ranks.

The only one I missed was the French Painter. But that was a lot of really good guesses.
