Post by wesw »

I hear that there is a new series being made called "still open all hours" where Granville now owns the store and runs it with his son.

Yippie!

In the pilot, Ronnie says "One day, all this will be yours". There was a one-off Xmas special of "Still...." in 2013. Wiki, he/she/it say:
Production for series one started in August 2014 . . . exterior filming started on 15 September, and location recording was completed on 26 September 2014 . Interior scenes will be recorded in front of a live studio audience from 10 October-21 November 2014 at Teddington studios

Like these people?

This might provide a full recovery from the above

If there were to be any realism in the new "Open all hours" the shop would be owned by a Pakistani bloke.

don t depress me gob. Yorkshire reminds me of the lower eastern shore of my youth. we are pretty much surrounded by the megalopolis here, but managed to remain a fairly homogenous, rural, and self sufficient people, well into the 70 s.there were whites blacks and some native americans and we all got along pretty well. "baltimorons " were the most exotic creatures we had around here. they were usually nice enough, but the way they shot cows and each other when hunting, and the aggressive driving of a lot of "foreigners", as we called them, inspired the nick name. some areas are still quite a bit off the beaten path and retain these qualities. the people on last of "the summer wine" remind me of my older relatives and the people of this area when I was a boy.

i always enjoyed meeting the newcomers as they arrived and learning all i could, but i miss the way it used to be around here, peaceful, rural, friendly, safe, and just a bit naughty. by and large things were proper, but we made our own rules. there were plenty of outlaws, but they really were nice enough too. i do have ancestor s from the areas that were settled by pirates after all, too. deals island used to be called devil s island, and i believe dames quarter, a town across from the island, used be called the damned quarter in colonial times. plenty of preachers and christians too. Methodists. Baptists too, but they were kinda scary.

oops, i m rambling. sorry.
