This Was A Pleasant Surprise...

Got our PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) statement in my email, (It's usually a little under $200, but I expected an uptick since we've had some cool nights and have had the heat on occasionally.)

Imagine my surprise:
Dear Valued Customer,
Your Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) energy statement(s) is now available on My Energy.

The amount of $0.00 for account number ******5634-1 is due on 02/13/2015.

Please log in to My Energy to view and pay your bill.

We thank you for being a valued PG&E customer.

Sincerely,
Customer Care
Pacific Gas and Electric Company
77 Beale St., San Francisco, CA 94105
Now that's my kinda bill :ok :ok :ok

I logged into the account, and saw this:

Other Adjustments -$261.36

CREDIT BALANCE - NO PAYMENT DUE -$36.12
So not only do we owe nothing this month, we have a credit of almost 40 bucks....Image

I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but there's no explanation given for how they have racked up an overcharge on us for more than $260...

I wonder if they've discovered that those new high tech meters they put in a little while back have been giving fucked up usage readings...

Have any other California residents found themselves getting large credits from PG&E lately?

No large credit but back in October I received the "California Climate Credit" on the electricity portion of the bill but it was only about $31.00 on a $48.00 amount owed.

If there is no explanation on your bill, all I can guess is that PG&E may have applied another customer's payment to your bill or you overpaid for another month.

I would send the money back immediately.... :D

Yes Joe, first thing tomorrow morning I'll be on the phone to PG&E demanding to know why we're getting a $260 credit... 8-)
