I've been accepted as an honorary red neck by the red necks in northeastern Pa.
But I'm not into NASCAR.

Auto racing has evolved into a sport where the drivers are now safer and more protected that the spectators.
To mollify concerns they keep raising the height of the speedway catchfences. Maybe it's time to raise the spectator viewing area higher than the subsequent exploding shrapnel. Then again, anyone who sits in the cheap seats getting all excited over 200 monotonous laps -- except for the occasional gruesome accident -- doesn't particularly think much about personal safety.
