I think the principal has issues

Like with misogyny or he gets a boner in the hallway looking at young girls and blames them for his impulses. So the creep sends a message to perfectly well dressed young women that the problem isn't with the males who want to conduct themselves with morals and manners one generally associates with barnyard animals, it's them, those young Jezebels!

Wow. Just .... wow. So much wrong packed into one story.
Are dress codes still even a thing? I thought that went out with the 60s.
(Also, Stephanie's mom needs to learn the difference between "principal" and "principle," and between "there" and "their," but that's neither here nor there for purposes of the post.)

I think this principal has no business having any position of power over women, young or old. It is so hard to imagine that any one individual could be so clueless.

Collar bones? I have never heard of a sexual fixation on collar bones before. I don't understand, but I have heard of, a fixation on feet or women's shoes.
You can see where this kind of religious nutcase insanity leads to easily enough.

Seriously? Yes, dress codes still occur in public schools, and are almost always in place at private schools (the existence of such rules being one reason why parents send their kids to private schools). And while the principal may be a off, the principle of appropriate clothing is not. People can discuss what is appropriate, and that the rules should apply to boys too (especially having pant waists above the waist and no underwear showing). But the blog post is pretty one-sided and does not address the dress issue. Likely what happened here, was that rather than get into a detailed analysis of when a lower cut top is okay and not okay, just put in a simple rule that a top has to cover the torso all the way up to the collarbone. It is obviously not about the clavical being sexy, it is about an easy rule to make sure that kids are dressed appropriately.
All the hyperventilating about missing work time, etc. is beside the point. There is a reasonable rule (or maybe not) that the kids should know to follow, like a ton of other rules they are subject to each day. Of all the things to worry about, this one goes pretty far down the list.

One would think if you wanted to stop sexual harassment, you'd target the boys who are doing the harassing, and not suggest the girls are bringing it on themselves (dare I say, asking for it?) by the way they dress.
