A Very Disgruntled Employee...

Post by Lord Jim »

A Shooting on Live TV in Roanoke

A reporter and a cameraman for CBS affiliate WDBJ were killed. The gunman, a former employee at the station, shot himself hours later on Interstate 66 in Virginia, news reports said.

Two journalists who worked for WDBJ, a CBS affiliate in Virginia, were killed Wednesday by a gunman on live television.

The apparent gunman, who uses the Twitter handle @bryce_williams7, later posted a video of the incident from a shooter’s vantage point. One tweet read: “I filmed the shooting see Facebook.” Twitter suspended the account after the tweets.

Bryce Williams is the on-air name of a former reporter at WDBJ. His real name is Vester L. Flanagan. The August County Sheriff’s Office identified Flanagan as the gunman, according to WSET-TV. WDBJ reported, quoting state police, that Flanagan shot and killed himself on Interstate 66 in Fauquier County about five hours after the first shootings. The station later said he was alive and in critical condition after shooting himself. [I'm really hoping for the best...by which of course I mean that he dies on the operating table...] Other news sources also reported that Flanagan shot himself.

I'm surprised Youtube hasn't yanked this; I suspect they will soon...

They should...

From what I've been seeing on the news, the young woman and young man who were murdered by this sick fuck were good folks...

Very sad...

They yanked it but more are popping up at YouTube. I won't bother linking any others.

"This video has been removed as a violation of Youtube's policy on shocking and disgusting content"...

Exactly so...
They yanked it but more are popping up at YouTube.
What the hell is the matter with people that they would keep re-uploading this? :shrug :loon

All that proves is that the guy who did the shooting isn't the only sick fuck out there....

Disgusting? Certainly. It doesn't surprise me, though. In a world where a lot of the most outrageous and disgusting things are made into ("reality") entertainment, people seeking or posting this video doesn't surprise me one bit.

Edited: because I really have nothing more to say, except, what the fuck will it take to control gun violence in this country (seeing babies murdered in their schools wasn't enough, I doubt seeing actual murders on live TV will result in any changes either) --- and I still want to throw up.

And before any of the gun rights advocates chastise me, remember, my beautiful boys live in the next town over from New Town, and were 6 and 8 when that massacre happened. They had to hear about it, learn to live with police officers in their elementary school, and went into lock down time and time again in the months following. They both had nightmares (as did all of us adults who love them), and the 8 year old came home from school after one lockdown crying, telling his Mom he didn't want to die.

But god forbid, we do anything more to regulate who can get a gun, or why you get a gun, or how quickly you get a gun, or what kind of gun you can have.

As I've said before, Paddy Chayefsky was a starry-eyed optimist... :?

The social media reality of today has created an environment that is far worse than he could possibly have imagined, in his most cynical nightmare...

Don't worry, sweetie! It's just an isolated incident! These things don't happen all the time, unless by "all the time" you mean more than once a day, on average.

But of course, the only response allowed is MOAR GUNZ!!!

"control gun violence" there s that exact phrasing I was talking about.

guilt won t work either.

the gangs are there for the arresting.

the feds know who the cartel guys are. arrest em

the crazies are crazies and you can t stop em, they ll put strychnine in your coffee or run you down in their mini van

look at all those poor dismembered and intact babies on the planned parenthood dissection tables. listen to the employee tell of the heart coaxed to beat again in an intact aborted baby, and hear how the doctor said it was good tissue to sell.

don t pull the boo hoo dead babies crap. it s beneath you.

those tactics are for the weak.

As has often been said before, outlawing guns won't stop people from getting them. I'd like to see stricter regulations but I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

That's why I always wear full body armor when I go out in public...

It's really pretty simple, Jim: Fewer guns = fewer gun crimes. Especially handguns.

This country averages more than one mass shooting a day, and more than 1,000 gun homicides a month, the overwhelming majority of which involve handguns.

But of course, there's nothing we can do about that.

Fewer guns = fewer gun crimes.

That's just math.

Don't like firearms, don't buy any.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.
