I've seen fire and I've seen rain

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Days of torrential rains kept much of South Carolina and its capital gripped by floodwaters early Monday as emergency responders promised renewed door-to-door searches for anyone still trapped after a weekend deluge and hundreds of rescues.

At least seven weather-related deaths have been blamed on the vast rainstorm.

Heavy rain kept falling into the early hours Monday around the Carolinas from the storm that began swamping the Southeast late last week, part of an unprecedented low pressure system that dumped more than 18 inches on one spot alone in Columbia, the South Carolina capital.

The rainstorm dumped so much water on South Carolina and parts of several surrounding states that even the weather experts said they were astonished.

"The flooding is unprecedented and historical," said Dr. Marshall Shepherd, a meteorologist and director of the atmospheric sciences program at the University of Georgia, in an email to The Associated Press.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Crazy. I hope they're all ok down there.

Perigee tides and the storm surge from a long duration nor'easter caused coastal flooding from NJ Into New England - nothing even close to what they are getting down south, but it was a wild weather weekend up and down the east coast.

Terrible situation...
Historic storm floods South Carolina; at least 7 dead along East Coast

Hundreds were rescued from fast-moving floodwaters Sunday in South Carolina as days of driving rain hit a dangerous crescendo that buckled buildings and roads, closed a major East Coast interstate route and threatened the drinking water supply for the capital city.

The powerful rainstorm dumped more than a foot of rain overnight on Columbia, swamping hundreds of businesses and homes. Emergency workers waded into waist-deep water to help people trapped in cars, dozens of boats fanned out to rescue others in flooded neighborhoods and some were plucked from rooftops by helicopters. More door-to-door search operations are planned Monday.

With so much water, officials said it could take weeks or even months to assess every road and bridge that's been closed around the state. Several interstates around Columbia were closed, and so was a 75-mile stretch of Interstate 95 that is a key route connecting Miami to Washington, D.C. and New York.

State forecasters said another 2-6 inches could fall around the state, and it could be Tuesday before skies are sunny.

Big rain last week. Kinda let up over the weekend and sunny today. Thoughts and prayers go out to SC and the entire east coast affeced by the rain.
Good thing Jaquin (sp?) didn't make a left, woulda been worse.
I fired up the generator and filled both my 5 gallon gas cans on friday just in case. Plus my MC had 4 gallons I could siphon in a pinch.
Ended up not being needed thankfully.

Please send any unwanted rain to CALIFORNIA, we could sure use some.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

My very unofficial bucket had 6 inches of water in it yesterday. 5 gallon pail sitting on my patio gets filled by the rain. It was last emptied last sunday(9/27) so htat's about how much rain we got last week.
