Mass Murderer Uses Car to Kill...

Post by Joe Guy »

3 killed, 34 hurt when car hits crowd at Oklahoma State parade
By Jason Hanna and Kevin Conlon, CNN

(CNN)A woman suspected of drunken driving crashed a car into a crowd of spectators at Oklahoma State University's homecoming parade, killing three people, authorities in Stillwater said Saturday.

Another thirty-four people were injured, eight of them critically, according to a police spokesman. Seven of those eight were taken by helicopter to a hospital, while 10 spectators -- one critical and nine "seriously injured persons" -- were taken by ambulance. Another 17 "walking wounded" took themselves to the hospital, according to Capt. Kyle Gibbs.

The names of those killed and injured weren't immediately released...

Another fatality now, a 2 year old boy.

This is a very sad story; it will be interesting to see what the blood tests reveal, as police don't know whether she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and despite the many stories online calling her a drunk driver, that hasn't been established by evidence at this point. I wonder if she might have suffered a medical issue? Apparently she was sent home from work prior to the accident because supervisors thought she was under the influence - but again, it might have been a medical issue.

Not making excuses for her, just curious to see what the evidence reveals. Very sad for all those injured and the families of the victims. The young woman's life is wrecked whether she was under the influence or not - I can't imagine the guilt she'll feel having devastated so many lives.

Since Oklahoma is an enlightened state that values human life, (ie Oklahoma is a death penalty state) hopefully the length of time that she will have to feel guilty will be considerably shorter than it otherwise might be...

It is interesting that you mention medical issues. Diabetes and a TIA are possibilities.

DUI is probably the leading candidate followed by 'other' drug intoxication.

If the NRA sold booze we would hear that the answer to DUI is more booze.

hypo glycemia or hypoglycemic shock mimics intoxication.

DON'T RULE OUT DEPRESSION

Post by RayThom »

It's been said that Chambers was fired from her part-time job at Stillwater's Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. Witnesses say she left the fast food franchise in tears but didn't appear to be under the influence. She was in her Freddy's work shirt when the accident/attack occurred.

Who could guess that losing a job at Freddy's could be so traumatic? I'm sure it will be proven that this woman had more than a job loss working against her. Drunk or otherwise I kind of feel sad for her. Unfortunately, as bad as her life may have been it's all over now.

Now, now...enough of the old doom and gloom. I'm sure OK Prison Industries can put her to work for pennies a day. This is a win/win for all concerned. She has gainful employment and the OK taxpayers will receive a cost effective method of reaping the benefits from her years of labor behind prison walls.

Always look on the bright side, I say. :ok

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

The Latest: Oklahoma parade crash suspect held on 4 charges of 2nd-degree murder

By The Associated Press

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — The latest on the fatal crash at the Oklahoma State homecoming parade (all times local):

6:30 p.m.

Oklahoma police say a 25-year-old woman arrested after a car crashed into a crowd at a parade and killed four people is now being held on four charges of second-degree murder.

Adacia Avery Chambers initially was held on a charge of driving while under the influence. But Stillwater, Oklahoma, police said late on Sunday that the second-degree murder charges were added.

Three adults were pronounced dead at the scene of the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade and a 2-year-old boy died later at a hospital from injuries. Dozens more were injured.
ETA:

I'm a little puzzled by the expressions of sympathy for the murderer. I'll save my sympathy for her victims and their families.

I wonder what that two year old child would give to have the opportunity to have a "hard" life...

LJ. I DON'T THINK FEELING SAD...

Post by RayThom »

... about where Chambers now finds herself equates to sympathy. Trust me, I'm certainly not sympathetic. She needs to go to prison and deal with the consequences, and hopefully get some help in the process. Murder at the moment seems to be a harsh charge and may prove to be unfounded... maybe.

I feel that there will be a lot more to this tragedy than what we know at the moment. I'm mostly interested in the pathology that lead her to this fatal conclusion, that's all. I'll wait and see what transpires.

The information available at this time is preliminary and thus unreliable, but I read that her employer was interviewed and called her an 'excellent employee', and that she wasn't fired but sent home following an incident of some kind that was upsetting to her.

I'm a bit at a loss to understand why she's been charged with second degree murder instead of vehicular manslaughter; hard to believe the State will be able to sustain its burden of evidence, but we will see.

Sorry to disappoint your blood lust, LJ, but this case won't qualify for the death penalty unless some evidence comes to light that establishes first degree murder with one of the qualifying special circumstances under OK law.

BSG--what I heard re the murder 2 charge (and I can't vouch for the truth) was that she stopped and then drove directly into the crowd. A few people said it looked like it was on purpose. I don't know her mental state (or intoxication/lack thereof), but it appears she was upset and, maybe after having to wait for "too long" near the crowds, she drove right into them. I agree the charge will be difficult to prove, but more facts need to come to light before we can say.
