Barney redux....

Post by Lord Jim »

I have to to admit it....

I hate Barney....I couldn't stand that insipid purple lizard ten years ago, when I went through "Barney" with Tati...Barney this, Barney that, it was nauseating....

But now Jimmy's crazy about him too....

I was rather hoping that after 10 years (though I've done some research...The "Barney cult" goes back to 1992) little kids would have moved on to something else...

But apparently not:

I'm stuck with three more years of "Barney"...

Well, so long as you never turn on PBS morning fare you'll be safe...

Otherwise, trust me....

Your young one is due in January?

You have 3-5 years of Barney ahead of you.....

BWHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

At least I won't suffer alone.... :P

I never hated Barney. But the kids on the show, I just wanted to smack them all.

I love you, you love me, we're a happy fam -a- lee. With a hug and kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too

My kids were never into Barney. The son was born in 1985 so he was probably too old by the time Barney came on TV. The duaghter was boen in '89 but thankfully she didn't get hooked in.

LordJim your problem is you work at home and see and hear it on the TV. You need to get a job outside the home so you are not exposed to this.

The character has a way of really connecting to little kids....

I could see it as the basis for a Steven King story....

Yeah my younger kids did the Barney experience. It was enough to make a grown man question his sanity. They also were hooked on Mr. Rogers which wasn't quite so bad.
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.

Yes oldr, there's a downside there, but I wouldn't trade all the moments I get to spend with my kids (they're only going to be little once) by having my own businesses and working from home for five times the money back in the corporate world....

Agreed. I missed much of my kids growing up, due to working (with overtime) and going to night school to get my degree. My wife is the best for putting up with all that and pretty much single handidly taking care of the children. But I always walked them to the bus stop in the morning. Small consellation, but you take it as you get it. And the weekends were "my turn" with the kids.

No Barney here.

I was lucky. I managed to get the Hatch interested in Dad's Army when she was just 3 years old by singing the theme tune over and over again.

At lesat I was able to sit and enjoy those when played ad nauseum.
Bah!

Who do you think you are kidding Mr. Hitler?
If you think we're on the run,
We are the boys who will stop your little game.
We are the boys who will make you think again.
'Cus who do you think you are kidding Mr. Hitler?
If you think old England's done?

Mr. Brown goes off to town
On the 8:21.
But he comes home each evening
And he's ready with his gun.

So watch out Mr. Hitler
You have met your match in us.
If you think you can push us
We're afraid you've missed the bus.

so who do you think you are kidding Mr. Hitler?
If you think old England's done...

Why aren't you getting him into Sesame Street? Bert & Ernie and Kermit, et al are still there... Shoot, I can remember when Gordon still had hair.

lol - I've got a 4yr old who loves the classics...

Tom & Jerry, The Pink Panther and of course Scooby Doo. :D
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

He's starting to do the Sesame Street thing, and Mr. Rogers....

But he's crazy about Barney....

So was Tati....

I guess there's something about being big and purple.....

Personally, I'm a big fan of "Thomas and Friends"....Tati still likes that one...

We all curl up on the bed and watch that one on Saturday mornings...

Well if Kelly wasn't a fan of something small and purple you wouldn't be in this pickle. ;)
