We watched this heart warming special last night:

"It's Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown"

Tonight (Monday), ABC will air a special at 8 p.m. ET called It's Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown, to mark the half-century since A Charlie Brown Christmas first aired in 1965. Then at 9, it will air the special itself.

Fifty years since the original "Charlie Brown Christmas" was released...

"Well Linus, that thumb sucking thing isn't going to be cute much longer...what do you say we take a bus trip out to the casinos in Reno before they put us in the home?"

We watched it as well as the old Christmas special, then last night watched Rudolph. Hadn't watched either in years. We took turns making fun of stuff during Rudolph but I still felt sorry for the misfit toys.

Haven't seen either one. Too much sex and violence. When's the Little House on the Prairie special?

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" is the best Christmas show ever.
I can do without Rudolf but not because I do not like it. When my son was young, he watched Rudolf at least once a day for more than a year. I can recite the whole thing.

The best Christmas show, IMHO, is Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol, but CB Christmas has always been one of my favorites (the Grinch as well).

Rudolph, I can do without; didn't like it or the song that inspired it even as a kid.

I'm with you 100% on that call, Big RR...I was just about to post the same pick...

A lot of really great music in that one...

My number 2 pick would be The Grinch...

Jim--if I recall, the songwriting team was the same on that later wrote Funny Girl for Broadway. And it is the songs that make the show so special.

Another favorite, not animated of course, is George C. Scott's A Christmas Carol. Captain Picard tried but it just wasn't as good.

I still go with the 1950 version with Alastair Sim as the standard:

But All Time Great Christmas Movies?

There's only one all time winner...

The original Miracle On 34th Street...

I'm not a grump, Grinch or Scrooge, but I'm sick & tired of Christmas movies. The only one that I might watch again had Chevy Chase in it, but I wouldn't go out and look for it.

Humfreakinbug!

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation never fails to delight.
