Hey! We need to add a Pet Forum to Plan B so we can all write about how our pets are better than everyone else's pets.
We can all post cute pictures of them and write ooh and ahh about other pets while thinking to ourselves that those pets aren't nearly as cute as ours.
I'll start.... My cat is so funny and cute. Your pet is stupid!
Whattaya think?
Your turn....
Thanks, Joe Guy!
My avatar is Jenny, the cutest shepherd mix dog ever! She wasn't stupid!

LBC is so smart that she thinks she's a computer geek. Every once in a while she will jump on my keyboard and type whatever she wants. Sometime when I'm posting from home, she'll give you an example.
Her brother Nash is highly intelligent too. He figured out as a very young cat how to lay on the kitchen floor, slightly under the cabinets, and kick them open with his back feet.
Despot, not so much.
All three have more "street smarts" than most cats as they were not caught for taming until their feral mother had poisoned there little cat brains into thinking that they should be as wild as her. I caught Nash at ten weeks of age, and LBC and Despot at 12 weeks. Today, the latter two are strictly my cats (Is that smart?) and will have nothing to do with Mrs Mc unless she has a can of cat food in her hand.

Jojo, who is over there

on my screen but might be over there

on your screen, is the most athletic cat I've ever met.
He can tumble, flip and run an obstacle course at record speeds.
He speaks English too so I'm pretty sure that he's not a refugee from some terrorist country.

My profile pic is my old girlie. She is presently on hospice and has been for some months. She was put on a couple of pain meds and a thyroid pill and has been doing better than we expected. Our original thought was to have her put down in October, but she was so robust we said maybe after Christmas and the New Year now. I figure if she can stand up and poop we will continue to adjust the date.
In her wild ass youth she would routinely pull a Houdini and slip over/under/through our fence. She would take off through the neighborhood. The times of her hijinx varied but a favorite stunt was to pretend to have to poop at 3 am, get one of us up and then *poof*. Hubby usually took the dog van out to look for her and more than once was stopped by the cops since I guess it looked like he was casing the neighborhood. ("The pajama burgler" would be the headline in the paper.) Usually she would amble back about an hour later as I was leaving for work. Of course I wanted to throttle her ass but I had to act happy at her return lest she come to fear coming home. She still tries to flee and actually made it out the fence a few weeks ago. I saw her do it and took off after her. She can no longer run so there was a very slow chase through the neighbor's yard and I got her.
She has been a good dog aside from the escape issues and I am going to miss her sorely.

I can relate, on the cat side of things. Cat Mandu was the unofficial cat of Le Chat House for many years. She was a Himalayan. Mrs Mc went out of town to visit our son and granddaughter for a long weekend. She left me to deal with Cat Mandu's last trip to the vet. We had her for almost 23 years.
Dennis' Miss Kitty (AKA Amanda Blake) was the second unofficial cat. I hope Miss Kitty isn't still locked up in his MO apartment. There was some discussion as to whether he might have still his Hyundai registered in MD, along with an MD driver's license.

According to
Guin's post at LCH:
Guinevere wrote:We found an address, spoke to the landlord, they checked and there was no cat.
That's good to know, I guess... (Though if she's like any of the cats I've ever known, she may just be very VERY good at hiding from strangers. I once took care of a friend's super-shy cat for two weeks while she was on vacation and never once actually saw the cat, though the food bowl was always empty and there was poop in the litter box every time I came back.)
Probably he left Miss Kitty with someone else to care for her while he was gone; I wonder if whoever that is has any idea what's happened?

Missy Kitty passed some time ago. We thought Dennis had another kitty, based on his Facebook page, and had a local animal control officer and/or someone from the human society (I'm not sure which but Sparrowgrass contributed that connection) check the apartment. They were satisfied there was no cat.

My daughter has two cats, one of which is seldom seen by anyone but her. No, it's not imaginary, it's a real tiger striped cat. I think I've seen it half a dozen times, including during the three months she and the cats moved in with us while her new house was being built.
And thank you for doing all this work Giun.

Thank a motley crew of former cartalkians, including myself, Sparrowgrass, rbarr, Juno/judyB, Katie Barefoot, appie in China, bluefrog, Andy H, Tess, Connie and theresaG. It's amazing the power of the Internet for good, by a handful of dedicated people. We are using all of the various resources available to us, including legal databases, ancestry.com, and even a genealogist friend and the afore-mentioned Aco/hsus contacts.
Fwiw, I'm waiting to hear back from the Trooper on the next of kin search. We may have made some process on that front, too.
