I think every college should have one floor (the basement) dedicated to housing all of the idiots who claim they are victims and need their own space so they can feel safe and comfortable.

For example, black students should each get their own room with a bed and a toilet. It will help comfort them to have a room that is similar to many of their brothers' and sisters' rooms who have already left college.

I think their education could be much improved with fewer "safe spaces" and more history courses...

Can you imagine the furore if white students had made that request for "safe places"?

I imagine that people might have asked themselves why those students had felt the need to ask for "safe spaces" before equating them to George Wallace. I don't suppose it occurred to any of the smug, self-congratulatory good ol' boys who jumped into this discussion to ask why, in 2016, black students on university campuses were still feeling threatened enough to be asking for "safe spaces". But that might have taken some introspection; far easier to make cracks about how many of them will eventually end up in prison.

They are kids, relatively speaking, and they came up with a solution that in many ways reflects their youth and inexperience. And for that they get compared to the guys who used to run around in white sheets lynching their parents and grandparents, and written off as future convicts-to-be. Heaven forbid anyone should recognize a cry for help when they hear it.

But you all got a good laugh at their expense, so that made it worthwhile.

You should all be fucking ashamed of yourselves, and not a single one of you has the insight to see why.

You wonder why there is still an intractable race problem in many Western societies, it's time to look past the guys in the white sheets and into the mirror.

It is an interesting phenomenon, and not a little ironic that black students are asking to be segregated. I don't know how to even address the situation, but the article reads like a spoof (maybe that is the intent?).

The Black Liberation Collective demands free tuition. I guess that's the "cry for help" I should have recognized. I'm sure that blacks (and "indigenous") students receiving free tuition would go a long way toward integrating all of the various cultures.

Take it easy on "you all" will ya? Thanks

That's what I took it as.

Unfortunately there are some that are so self-righteous here that they bellow at every perceived slight which they view as racist.

Either that or their undies are much too tight.

It is what it is.

Consider the source of the article linked in the OP. "The College Fix" is a right-wing shit-stirring site that aims to "expose" and denigrate anything its operators deem as "political correctness," regardless of the actual issues.

While I appreciate this may be a "actual issue" to some of those asking for segregated "safe areas", I somehow think the response here and elsewhere would be very different if some white students asked for the converse--black free safe areas. Just because people feel threatened or uncomfortable is no reason to change the law or the principle; people have to learn to get along.

It is what it is.

The incarceration rates for Afro-Americans is quite high.....it is what it is.

First, we all got what Joe meant without your crude spelling it out.

Second, they ain't there because being black means 'criminal'. Thought I expect if some of them were white they wouldn't be there at all - so maybe I'm wrong

Either way, racism is kinda easy to recognize despite the white hood
