And a big shout-out to the Ghost of Wisconsin, Leo Burt, and fellow Bonner High School alumni, who may or may not be celebrating his 68th birthday today.
Leo, if you are reading this, turn yourself in -- you are sorely missed by many special interest groups and they'd love to chat with you. Besides, you must be exhausted by now -- it's time.

"Destruction of government property" kind of understates it:
The anonymous call came in the middle of the night, from a phone booth near Madison, Wis. "Hey, pig!'' a male voice warned. "There's a bomb in the math research building.''
It was 1970, the height of student demonstrations against the Vietnam War. The pig, in the vernacular of the times, was a police dispatcher. And the bomb was real, a novel device that exploded minutes later on the University of Wisconsin campus, causing massive damage and killing a researcher who was the father of three young children.

That was 46 years ago, surely he must be rehabilited by now.

that's the sad reality of the antiwar movement; many people protesting for peace used violence to make their point. I knew a number of people who were pulled into radical organizations at the time (although I honestly don't know what became of them afterwards). I believe most of them did not want to hurt or kill anyone, but when acts like this are done, such results are almost inevitable.

Agree with BigRR -- generally normal people who get caught up in the emotion/manipulation and do heinous things. Knew one of Burt's co-conspirators (the one who made the call LJ references).
