It's a great time be an English sports fan.

First Wales get to the semis of Euro 2016. Well OK they are nearly English. Andy Murray looks as if he has a real shot at Wimbledon. Scotland is not far away. And Mark Cavendish and Chris Froome are burning up the Tour. They must be English with names like that. And I am backing Rory for the Open.

And of course the real Home Counties man is going to lap the F1 competition. Lewis Hamilton from the Shires (Stevenage) is going to take it al!

Bugger Brexit. This English fan is happy.

Froome is an African and Murray a Scot. I realize when both are doing well, the English like to claim them. Let's see what nationality they are by Monday. I'm of the opinion a Colombian will come out ahead of Froome and my Swiss boyfriend ahead of Murray.

And Cavendish is the Manx missle. So does it mean anything that he prefers to identify with his small island (a Crown dependency that is self-governing) over the large one?

So much for my predictions . . . but shouldn't that really be "British" sports (who are killing Le Tour right now).

I think "British" is appropriate. I will be rooting for Murray (even if he is a Scot) vs. the Canadian.

It's like voting for Hilliary in preference to Trashump.

Froome certainly rode great today. That downhill finish, with the high speed control, after the fatigue from the climb was wonderful.

I don't feel bad being surprised by that move, since the rest of the riders were too. It was a good one. "Chapeau."

I just don't like him much, I guess I prefer my cyclists with a bit more of the "bad boy" vibe. I've always enjoyed Cancellara who is riding his last Tour right now, we know I am a (former) Lance fan (and I adored George), I love Tommy Voekckler, and I enjoy watching Nibali ride. I'll root for the Americans, too, of course. Oh for another cranky, talented Greg LeMonde!

As for Wimbledon, I got the results I wanted in the Ladies Singles and both Doubles matches today and will likely opt out tomorrow for Le Tour instead. I cannot root for the Canadian, and I can't stand Murray. Damn it all.

Snail - on Bastille Day, Mont Ventoux!!! I cannot wait for that one!!

A quick reminder that whatever other "sports" may be happening tomorrow (Sunday) the most important event of the day is Frogs vs Dagoes in the European soccer international championship final. C'mon one of yez - score! 3pm Eastern on ESPN. Be there or be square

Your grandmother was right; stay out of the sun.

But on another level. Greg is one of the greatest American athletes of all time. He wins the tour by 8 seconds after the fastest time trial, ever.

And he is a great man as well.

Undoubtedly something happened to the huge fans that keep that thing inflated and upright.  Someone probably pulled the plug on one of them so they could use the outlet for the charger for their iPhone.

I will take no lip from a cricket fan about my love for Le Tour.

The coverage isn't just about cycling, it's a billet doux to the entire country of France. Ahhhhhh. So lovely.

Cricket fans don't even have the right to criticize NASCAR fans...

Come, come - everyone has the right to mock the roundy-rounders.
