Why Sockpuppetry?

Interesting article:

A Wonderland for Pathological Liars and Attention Whores
Nobody like that here, of course.

I'm just average, common too
I'm just like him, the same as you
I'm everybody's brother and son
I ain't different from anyone
It ain't no use in talking to me
It's just the same as talking to you.
...Attention Whores
Right. There's nobody like that here at Plan B. Not one drama queen in the entire group.

Now pardon me while I change character and pretend to be someone who is on everyone's ignore list...

yet we live different lives....

our differences remain.

and yet we harmonize....

We all have the capacity to be drama queens or attention whores from time to time, and even the occasional fib from some, I suppose.

But it takes a special pathology to create and maintain a separate identity and present it with the intention to deceive.

I found the article fascinating and illuminating.

psychiatrists and psychologists have started noticing a pattern—a syndrome that’s now called “virtual factitious disorder” or, more snappily, “Munchausen by internet.” In the syndrome someone creates an online persona who suffers some kind of tragedy and milks the resulting outpouring of sympathy and concern.
That's fascinating and illuminating.

In order to deflect from his deception, the puppeteer makes insinuations attacking the woman 17 months into a degenerative incurable illness diagnosis who has lost her home, her profession, and on too many days, her ability to safely ambulate. She's a liar!

Or perhaps he meant the dog with the shattered leg? :shrug

Lots of real people who post here or have posted here in past have fairly unfettered access to my real life details, Joe. Not to mention I've posted plenty here, too. Kind of an open book, I am. I have no compulsion to deceive people on either a small or large scale.

I find your compulsions perversely fascinating - it's like the feeling I have watching Trump.

I'm sure I'm misread your intent Joe.

Please, explain what you did mean - I'm all ears. Reading your posts in this thread alone, take advantage. I assert if you use the opportunity merely for personal attack, it says a great deal about your motivations.

Why so defensive? Am I threatening your primary source of fun? :shrug
