Go Ducks
Go Ducks
Constant story of the last month here is the Ducks going to the BcS Championship game (that is the national collegiate football championship game for those on some other continent). Many thanks to New Hampshire for training our terrific coach, Chip Kelly. Interestingly, this is the first year they are showing all the major bowl games on ESPN rather than a broadcast channel. However, Portland leads the nation last I heard in households without cable tv, with something like 35% not having cable. For the state, this is like the Super Bowl where non-football fans will be tuning in . . . but not if they can't find a friend with cable.

They'll have to go to a bar (like I have to for Thursday night football as my cable company doesn't carry the NFL Network).Long Run wrote:Constant story of the last month here is the Ducks going to the BcS Championship game (that is the national collegiate football championship game for those on some other continent). Football, that great British invention.
Is this the side David Beckham is playing for now?

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
Re: Go Ducks
Older it's on ESPN...
Sometimes it seems as though one has to cross the line just to figger out where it is

I know, I was talking about some NFL games being on the NFL Network (which Cablevision doesn't carry).keld feldspar wrote:Older it's on ESPN...
People without cable can't get ESPN as it is not "over the airwaves". The BCS has previously been on ABC, CBS or NBC (maybe FOX) which are available "over the air" to those without cable service.

Who won anyway? Last I saw the Ducks were down by 8 points.

Ouch. Truism: big, fast athletes usually beat smaller, fast athletes. But it was close and a play or two could have made for a different result.oldr_n_wsr wrote: ETA

Re: Go Ducks
I heard a recap that the Ducks tied the game with somewhere around 2 minutes left but ended up losing in the end. Wish I would have stuck it out for another 10 minutes of so, but most of the game was not well played. Seems the last 5 minutes were all I needed to see, but sadly, I went to bed before the exciting time.Long Run wrote:Ouch. Truism: big, fast athletes usually beat smaller, fast athletes. Both teams had chances to take control but neither did.
