Fuck Trump.

A Texas motorist whose vehicle window decal directed an expletive at US President Donald Trump and his voters has been arrested.

Karen Fonseca, 46, was detained on Thursday on an outstanding warrant and has been freed on bail.

Her arrest came a day after a local sheriff warned that the driver of the pick-up truck could be charged with disorderly conduct.

The lawman's comments provoked an outcry over free speech.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls' office said he had deleted his Facebook post, which included a photo of the vehicle's sticker, because his family was being threatened.

"The objective of the post was to find the owner/driver of the truck and have a conversation with them in order to prevent a potential altercation between the truck driver and those offended by the message," the sheriff's office said on Thursday afternoon.

"Since the owner of the truck has been identified, the Sheriff took down the post. Due to the hate messages he has been receiving towards his wife and children, the Sheriff will not be commenting on the matter further."

The outstanding warrant, whatever it was for, was what got her arrested, not the decal.
She should have a million printed, and sell them on ebay.

Only a million?  She could move that many in a week if she could stuff them into envelopes fast enough!!

Pity. The world does not need to have other people's foul language inflicted upon it. I'd be tempted to take a crowbar to the rear window and not because I think anything kindly (or nice) about Trump.

It's prptected speech. Get over it. Cohen v. California, 403 U.S. 15 (1971).

It amazes me, as demonstrated here and in another threads, how many of you only want to selectively enforce and uphold the Constitution. Sorry folks, it’s a package deal.

I am amazed at how many people think they have a right to live out their life in a setting that is not a desert island or a wilderness cave, and never be offended.

At the same time I regret the trend to intentional vulgarity and ugliness I see around me every day.

Snail - agreed but it’s not a particularly new trend. There has been ugliness and public and political ugliness so long as there have been humans. Et tu, Brute.

It is sheer provocation - not speech at all but vile and vulgar self-aggrandizement, inflicted upon minors (and majors, general or otherwise) without their request, consent or ability to choose NOT to have it thrust in their faces.

I'd uphold my constitutional right to hang a flag over it and set it on fire

Is the FUCK word still considered foul language. God help me, I've been known to use the word around my 27 year old daughter. I must be a horrible dad. Am I destine to burn in Hell forever?

Words are just that... words. In the end we supply their meaning -- and impact.

My hang -up is the general dilution of the meaning of this word Fuck. Jane Fonda once declared in a criminal case against her that she thought it was the nicest thing one human could say to another. Would the operator of this truck have any hesitation about bringing sex assault charges against a man who voted for Trump and attempted to act on her public invitation?

What if the censored word was "Shoot"? Would that be acceptable?

I'd prefer that people have the choice to bring up their children without having other people inflict vulgarity upon them, without their consent (either parental or the child). Keep it to yourself and your own family/friends/circle.

What I object to is the rudeness of those who appear to believe they are free to be as rude, crude and ignorant as they wish in a public space i.e. in front of those who have no wish to experience the "look-at-me" attitude of selfish boors.

I recall when my daughter was around five (she is now 25, home for Thanksgiving and working on her third degree - please excuse proud Dad) we were waiting for a flight somewhere. Pittsburgh, I think. A man in a nearby restaurant was shouting into his cell phone with 'fuck' every third word. Mid call I walked over to him and said, even more loudly "If you are going to use language like that I'd appreciate it if you kept the volume down." That sort of thing does not come naturally to me - I'd rather walk away - but as I returned to my seat leaving him looking stupefied and my daughter, who had ignored the situation and still had her nose in her book, at least three strangers said "Thanks."

Yes, I, too, can take exception to the redundant use of the word but not necessarily to it's use in general.

Me and my family will be gathering around the table on Thursday and I doubt if the fuck word will be uttered even once. However, if anyone brings up the worst of obscenities -- "Trump" -- all bets will be off. He's a fucking asshole.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

No, he's a Trumpin' asshole; let's use the appropriate obscenity.
