It's Going To Be A Great Three Hour Super Bowl!

Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers And the Pittsburgh Steelers...!
(I'll be rooting for the Packers because they're not from Pennsylvania....)
We're not going to have anything special going on for the Super Bowl....(because frankly, we don't really give a shit about the fate of either team.... )
But I was thinking that in the best tradition of "hands across the water" for the edification of our British and Australian friends, we Yanks and Rebs might join together and post damn near
every play of the Super Bowl on this board....
As our British friends so thoughtfully did for us during their recent soot match....
Who's with me on this one?

Frankly, I was hoping for a Packers-Jets game....
Talk about retro...
Maybe they could have brought Bart Starr and Joe Namath in to start at Quarterback....

Jim...
Whem the MLB season commences, let's all start a running thread that will last from April till October.
(that's the least we can do)
As far as the Super Bowl, I don't really care, except that I hope Green Bay wins.

Come on LJ, western Pa. has produced some of the greatest football players including Willie Joe himself. The Steelers are a great team with an absolutely fantastic history. Even stanch GB fans will give the black and gold their due respect.

I'm with you,
@w. I could barely muster enough interest to take note when the Iggles were in the hunt. Wake me when pitchers and catchers report.

Well, maybe the Steelers can bring back Terry Bradshaw....
My favorite line of his is:
"everybody thinks I'm stupid, and they're right....in fact I'm so dumb, I can't even fly my own jet"....

That
would seem appropriate....

Listen to him crowing about the solitary World Series win of the San Francisco Giants.
Even the Toronto Blue Jays have managed to beat that.

Actually the giants have won 6 World series.
The Jays have only been a franchise since (76) 77.
So if you submit that the Giants have 1 WS since the Jays have been a franchise you would be correct.
The Jays did win the 92 & 93 Series...

There was a time when there was a three hour Super Bowl. Now there is a three hour pre-game show and a contest that lasts the better part of four hours. And how super can the championship game be anymore since they've done their best to eliminate dominant teams (through the hard salary cap and drafting of new player process)? We have two storied franchises going at it, but neither is a great team (and there were no great teams this year). But I am all for giving a play by play account, with as much commentary as possible so that we can educate those who need education of this great American event. Or we can post our favorite commercials -- see if any of them are super.

The
San Francisco Giants have won one Series.
What other teams previously called the Giants may have won is another matter entirely.

Understandeably so, since it took them so long to win a Series in their own right.

Indeed, followed by the Expos/Nationals thing.
Which sort of goes to illustrate my point that if you want to be considered the same team, you play with the same name and in the same city, continuously.

Long Run, are you trying to be the "Steve" of NFL football?
