This one was on the job

This one was at a kid's basketball game.

In either case, these are not guys who belong on the force.
Why are a city's police force often called the city's finest? Finest what? Thugs?
And why is the concrete where big airliners park at airports called tarmac? It's not. It's concrete, many inches thick. Tarmac won't support the weight. Sorry, my own tangential personality just took over.
The young idiot who made the bogus swatting call, causing a death, has been extradited from California and arraigned for involuntary manslaughter. He was on the TV news this evening telling a TV reporter that he'd consent to an interview if they'd put $100 into his commissary account at the jail by tomorrow.
Oh, there it goes again.

So the cop fires twice at a dog inside a room when the dog is threatening him. The dog 'suffered slight wounds from bullet fragments' - sounds to me that the cop should not be allowed in the same zip code as a handgun.

MG, I have been thinking of stopping by your shop in Wichita for a ftf the next time I am driving to Oklahoma.
Now, I think I better stay on the interstate and avoid any possible contact with Wichita peace officers. Seems to me these two stories plus the incident of swatting reveal a culture among the Wichita peace keepers that I just do not want to expose myself to--or my Grandson who is contemplating applying to Wichita State because of its good rep as a technical center.
And as an aside, do no police organizations train in use of a baton? Is the PR24 a relic of the past? Is the stun gun or the bullet gun their only options?

They prefer Tazers now...those make MUCH better torture devices! No bruises, no blood in the car, no chance of straining a shoulder or breaking an expensive Mag-Lite-best thing to happen to cops since the drive-through donut shop.

What exactly is a 5-cell — or even a 3-cell — Mag-Lite loaded up with 'D' batteries? It's basically nothing more than a lead-filled pipe, and I'm sure even a fresh-out-of-law-school defense attorney with the ink still wet on his diploma would be able to make that point to a jury, should it ever come to that....
I don't think even Sheriff Joe or Milwaukee's tough-talking David Clarke
(he of the black Stetson and the showy uniform) could get away with beating on someone with one of the murder weapons from the old game of "Clue".

I suspect it has come to that.
Local officers are issued little Strion flashlights like this to go along with their scoped rifles.

They throw a beam better than a five sell Maglite, don't seem to have leakage issues like the Maglites, and officers can't club anyone with them.
Why pull out a PR-24 which requires getting close to your prey? A taser is so much more impersonal. I
can't remember when I've seen a cop with one. A FORMER sheriff's deputy I know has the baton he used to carry 30 years ago, way before tasers were invented. I think it's an antique.
For those who've never seen one:

Snailgate, I can see the interstate half a mile away if I stand on my tiptoes and look over my back fence. It would be a shame not to stop by. There are at least a dozen restaurants within half a mile of the nearby exit, some of them good.

They got rid of the cop who shot at the dog in the living room full of kids.

I don't think they'll be able to keep him out any ZIP code with a gun, but I like the idea.

Bravo!
This kind of thing should happen more often - purge the morons and bullies and people might start trusting police again.

Small town cop is a dangerous job and the pay stinks. That is the major reason it contains so many morons and bullies.

When did a city with a population of about 390,000 become a small town? It is the largest in the state.
Small to me is under 100. I can show you some with populations under 10. Now that's
small.

Where is this fired cop gonna work next? Not in Topeka. But perhaps in a suburb of St Louis.

I'm not sure where that meme came from. Norman Williams retired in late 2014 after 39 years on the force. I always thought he did a credible job as chief.

Sorry! It's the thought that counts.
