Actually I don't have a hive anymore. A small percentage of beekeepers develop a reaction to bee venom and I turned out to be one of them. I found a really nice guy to give the hive and various equipment to. He was very gracious and called me back the next day to say thank you. He said this is something he and his brother do for a little extra income and it was like Christmas to get the hive, extra boxes and frames, tools @c. Judging from the state of his bee suit, repaired with tape in many locations, he was telling the truth.

I discovered later on that isoamyl alcohol acetate is the pheromone bees release when they sting to recruit more bees to sting. It is a minor component in isoamyl alcohol which I had had been handling a lot of in the lab.

I like the indoor hive idea. I had suggested it but the aesthetics guild shot it down.
