When people break into your house and you're home, it's probably not the best plan of action to ask if they intend to hurt you. They might not be honest people.

Yes, it could be a neighborhood police officer who has mistaken your house for their own.

Hey -- shit happens.

That's so unfair Joe...

When someone breaks into your home, you should be required to provide them with a questionnaire to determine their intentions...

If they are "only" there to steal your property, (and they haven't checked the boxes for things like "rape wife" or "kill children") you should then assist them; (don't want anyone getting hurt) help them carry out your TV set, direct them to where your jewellery is kept, maybe give them a few bucks to help fuel up their get-away car...

The objective should be to end the encounter as peacefully and safely as possible for all concerned (especially the perp)... No point in harming someone who's only invaded your home to steal everything of value that you own...

Afterall, it's only property...

Braai is Afrikaans for BBQ - not so much as a cooking technique, more as the whole 'gather round the grill and get drunk' aspect of it. Hope this helps.

Looks like black mamba country to me.

Texas police officer shot his own son, thinking he was a home intruder, police say

RYAN W. MILLER | USA TODAY | 7:40 am EDT October 29, 2019

A Texas police officer shot his son who he thought might be an intruder, authorities said.

The incident occurred Saturday evening when the off-duty Dallas police officer returned home and thought someone might be inside, DeSoto Police Department spokesperson Pete Schulte told reporters.

His son, who Schulte said was in his 20s, suffered a non-life-threatening wound to his arm. Schulte said the officer, who police have not named, did not realize the son was home.

"It was a mistake," Schulte said. "It was a startling situation. It was an accident."

There are stories like this in the news on a regular basis - far too often resulting in death.

But yes, let’s promote the ‘shoot first ask questions later’ mentality just a bit more in this fucked up gun crazy country.

Thanks Andy. No mambas - all dead in the fire. Irony.

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

There is actually a sign very much like that on the wall in the kindergarten room where I’m teaching.
