The groundhog said early Spring. I note with disgust though that we are going to get snow here all weekend, then by next Wednesday some more significant snow plus one of those blasts from the north with zero-ish temps. I think the Groundhog lied.
I actually love winter. That being said, I too am beaten down and am ready to cry "uncle".
Un huh
Re: Un huh
I know how you feel.
I love the rain.
You would think, after getting through a 10 yer drought that I would still be happy to see the rain.
However, in the middle of summer it is making the days so bloody humid and steamy I am ready to almost say ... ENOUGH OF THE RAIN.
But not quite yet.

Bah!

It's six weeks until spring, whether the groundhog says it's coming early or late. That seems clear enough to me, and thus I've never really understood Groundhog Day.
However here in northern Montana, it's 5 more months until spring weather. Whether we like it, or not.

I explain it to my kids this way: If the groundhog sees its shadow, that means there will be six more weeks of winter; if it doesn't, then spring is just around the corner -- usually in about six weeks.bigskygal wrote:It's six weeks until spring, whether the groundhog says it's coming early or late. GAH!
Re: Un huh
Ditto. Only six weeks of winter weather past February 2 would be somewhat of a miracle here. We usually have snow on the ground into April.bigskygal wrote:It's six weeks until spring, whether the groundhog says it's coming early or late. February, while a bit mercurial at times, usually shows a gentle side. It would give one hope that Spring was close at hand and while we knew March would offer a ball-busting revisit to winter around sectional time our spirits would rise a bit with the longer days and peeks at sunshine. Starting last year February turned on us and gives us a constant, cold spanking.

Punxsutawney Phil's handlers use the farmers almanac to make their forecast and have been just about as accurate as the rest of the weather forecasters over the years. It seems to be about the only profession where you can be wrong 50% of the time and still keep your job.

I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.

Oh... 50%? I thought you said 500%

Instead of complaining about them, you ought to be cloning them.....
