I shall be at Kroger this morning

You probably heard about the
shooting at a Louisville Kroger supermarket on Wednesday. Two black customers were killed: we don't yet know the motives of the guy who killed them. The police have someone in custody who reportedly has mental issues and a criminal record, and at least one person he encountered in the parking lot says that he (the shooter) said "Whites don't shoot whites." He also, according to the police who had video surveillance evidence, tried and failed to get entry to a local church with a mainly black congregation.
Louisville Courier Express link.
This Kroger is about three miles from me and I go there occasionally. I was there on Saturday. A friend was around yesterday who uses that Kroger regularly and she said that her daughter has said that she will never go there again. Everyone is free to make their own choices, of course, and I have no special love for Kroger. But I think it's important to claim things back from the gun idiots (mentally ill, criminal or racist, or all of the above) so I shall be there when they reopen today.
Edited to correct a couple of typos.

Absolutely horrible EKA...
Since Kentucky is a state that has the DP, and there appears to be no question as to this person's guilt, I hope this process ends with this dirt bag's execution...
No matter his motive, the cold blooded premeditated murder of two innocent people makes him a worthy recipient for the ultimate penalty that society can impose.

He killed black people - he won’t get the death penalty.

There were TV reporters outside interviewing (I assume) customers. There was an open notebook on a table just inside the entrance where people wrote their thoughts: mostly. 'thoughts and prayers' and expressions of support for the victims' families. A couple of cops walking around the store; and at least two staff people asked me, and other customers, how we were doing. I did talk to a 30-ish woman who asked me if she could help me find something. She said that they had all pretty much resolved that they had to get back in the saddle because otherwise the bad guys win, but that she still had not walked by the spot where the man inside the store died. (One was in the parking lot.) I felt a little more emotional than I expected to, but not more than when I checked out. The cashier was a young black woman, maybe 20 or so - she seemed to be OK but I was thinking of her parents and how anxious they must have been about her going back to work at the front of the store. I sat in my car for five minutes or so before I felt OK to drive home.

This is clearly the fault of all the unfair fake news attacks on our President...Once again CNN has blood on their hands...
Trump is the real victim here...

It's not a war zone. You have to assume it's a one time event, suck it up, and carry on.
Bodies drop all over the place -- natural causes, or otherwise -- so can you imagine the craziness if necrophobic people tried to avoid all the places where others have died?
So appropriate as Halloween approaches.
BOO!

This morning the bodies were dropping in Pittsburgh. POTUS tweeted his usual. The beat goes on. What is required of a peacemaker in our land today? Would self-immolation in DuPont Circle be only noted for its number of 'likes' on facebook?

Of course POTUS tells us (in the Q&A at Andrews before he left town for a Young Farmers event) that had someone in the congregation been armed, the outcome would have been different.
God I hate to politicize a tragedy like this: but it's worth pointing out that four brave police officers, who were presumably armed, trained and had at least some protective gear, were injured.
I feel cheapened to even point that out.

I love how you have such a firm grasp of the obvious.

If he were just a fucking moron I could deal with it: after all there are 60 million of them, give or take, among the voting public. And many of them are decent people who were lied to and swallowed it. It's the fact that he is also a piece of shit, which is altogether rarer and the combination is lethal.

It's taken two years but the moron/asshole/whatever who did this was
sentenced to life without possibility of parole yesterday.
Apparently he pled guilty but mentally ill. He also faces federal hate crime charges:
He is also expected to plead guilty to federal hate crime charges in connection with the shootings, a move that will allow him to avoid the death penalty, according to court documents.
Not sure I understand that. I'm against the death penalty in all cases but, if he were to be executed, I don't suppose I'd stand outside with a candle for him.
I reread the thread to post this: sad to see absent friends.
