That explosion took place in a district of San Francisco called The Inner Richmond; I live in The Outer Sunset...
The Richmond is on the other side of Golden Gate Park from The Sunset; I plugged our address and the address of the main building that was involved in the explosion into an online distance calculator, and we're almost exactly five miles apart.
