Isn’t it about time to shut this down?

There’s 150+ dead bodies up there, plus over 100,000 pounds of garbage. And the glaciers under all that rotting garbage are melting.

Why shut it down?

That's how man shows he was somewhere.... he doesn't erect a flag; he leaves his litter.  Have we been to Everest?  Did Amundsen make it to the South Pole?  Did we put a man on the moon?  Sure we did; and the shit we left there (figuratively as well as literally; baggies of the astronauts' bodily wastes, like little bags of doggie-do, were among the unnecessary material jettisoned before the lunar modules lifted off) proves it!!

Just think ... someday, when we finally go back to the moon, someone will undoubtedly retrieve those and bring them back for scientific study, and after analyzing those turds they will be able to tell us just what Neil Armstrong had for brekkie before taking his historic "first step".

Follow the money. Not our call.

Solution: the local government charges each climber a tax that is used to hire local people to clean up as much of the trash that they can safely reach.

Sure, because climbing to 25,000 feet to do their job is something that every sanitation worker dreams of.

Death Zone: Cleaning Mount Everest shows the risk to life involved in trying to clean the mountain. Sherpa shows the way the Nepalese and others are exploited and put at risk to do all the heavy lifting for many of the climbers, including CARRYING some of the lazy rich fucks up the mountain.

I’m not saying it should be closed off to very serious mountaineers, but that’s not the situation at present. It’s been commercialized and many people going aren’t really prepared for the challenge - and guides and Sherpa die trying to save them. Not to mention all the garbage.

The number of expeditions should be strictly limited and a stricter criteria to qualify to climb.
