I have a very strong degree of confidence in the belief that every single one of the Miss Universe contestants is FAR more intelligent than you, wesw.

A vidalia onion is more intelligent that wes, so that's not saying much.
But if anyone had paid attention, this was a group of well educated and already accomplished young women.

The Miss California pageant used to be in Santa Cruz but it was chased out of town, or so they say, by the annual protests against it. ( IIR Ann Symington pioneered the "meat dress" at one of them, decades before Gaga copied it.) I was sorry to see it go I miss the theatre of the thing.
A fun movie based on a beauty pageant, "Smile" camo out in that same decade IIR.

Miss Jamaica, also black, was just crowned Miss World - a sweep of all the major pageants by black women. I hope the white supremacists are losing their minds even more than usual.
Miss World, by the way, just completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies and is on her way to medical school next. Just another stupid woman.

I assume, therefore, that the need for pageants like "Miss Black America" and others of that ilk has now been sufficiently disproved, and there is no longer a need for "separate but equal" beauty pageants?

Isn't the "Miss Black America" pageant for women of color who represent the inner-cities, and not the actual State in which they live?
Hey, I stopped watching these "pageants" way before Burt Parks died. If I wanted to see beautiful young ladies in swimsuits and saying crazy stuff I'd just hit the beaches in New Jersey during any nice summer day. Plus, after a hard day of trolling I had a better chance of catching one in the flesh at any one of Margate's Barbary Coast watering holes.
Much better than any TV beauty show.

Psychology and Women's Studies? Ah, the equivalent of the college football team taking Tourism and African/American Studies?
(Oh come on

UCSC had (and probably still does) a 'Women's Studies" board as well as a "Feminist Studies board". Reminding me of "The Judean Peoples front" vs "The People's Front of Judea".
I just checked and "Women's Studies" has disappeared apparently from "Feminist Studies" rising up and assimilating their sister.
