Solution, obviously, is to give up your cell phone(s) and all the conveniences like GPS, Waze, Uber, and everything else we've grown to take for granted.
Who's gonna be first?

I can’t survive without Waze - but it’s only allowed access to location services when I’m actively using the app.

But wait, there's more:

It's you -- not them.

I’m not sure that’s fair. How many people reasonably expect that their GPS location data will be saved by some corporate entity for who knows what nefarious future purpose?

I expect Waze to use my location to help me get where I’m going. Then I expect them to toss my location data upon arrival at my desired destination, and not use it again until I’m using them again. Obviously the fine print must say something else and it certainly has me reevaluating my use of such services and permissions.
