Coronavirus
Coronavirus
Meanwhile: As I recoup and rehab from radical gastric cancer surgery I was just informed that one of my faced-masked, home health care nurses that checked in on Thursday, tested positive for COVID today. And the icing on the cake, I've been pneumo-compromised for decades. Did I mention that while hospitalized I developed fluid on the lungs that required two thoracentesis procedures?
Since I've been home I check my temperature three times a day. Last check at 6PM tonight, 97.9. I'm supposed to sound an alarm if it reaches 100.1.
I survived a surgery that almost killed me a month ago and now this. Life's a bitch, and then you die.

Hang in there, RayThom.
At least until the end of Trump's presidency in January 2021.
I know you can do it.

Ray, we need you here. You must get healthy. I know that life hathaway of knocking you off your feet when you least expect it. You've had much more than your share of setbacks. You continue to be in my non-prayers. Best wishes to you for a healthy recovery.

My experience of home care nurses is that they are very attentive to maintaining sterility even under normal circumstances, so with whatever enhanced precautions they are taking, you shouldn't freak over it. I'm betting on you pulling out of all this just fine.

Well, I, for one, plan on 'violating' Wisconsin's "Stay-At-Home" order this coming Tuesday so that I can go to the polls to vote for any and all Democrats on this year's spring election. (also because I found out I wasn't yet registered to vote or get an absentee ballot at my new address)
That's how we're going to "Make America Great Again".

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I have no choice but to trust these home care nurses. Up til two weeks ago -- and with no face masks -- we kept our distance except when they checked my j-tube, redressed the surgical wound, and administered PT.Scooter wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 1:03 amMy experience of home care nurses is that they are very attentive to maintaining sterility even under normal circumstances, so with whatever enhanced precautions they are taking, you shouldn't freak over it. Last week the nurses were mandated to start wearing face masks with every patient. Because I am in my home, I don't wear a mask. The nurse who came on Thursday, who later tested positive, had to address a j-tube clog and then redressed the wound -- gloves, of course, are used. Still much raw, unhealed tissue around both areas, and ripe for infection.
I have contended with so many health problems throughout my life that I have learned never to freak over any thing that manifests. I do stay concerned and totally aware until I get an all clear signal. My temp at 10AM was 98.6, and pulse/ox 97. I'm good.
Calm, cool, and collected. No worries.

Re: Coronavirus
Everyone should watch this and share it widely and use it as a tool to decide how to vote in November.
1479 died yesterday; April will probably see 40,000+ dead Americans - the cruelest month, indeed.
This didn’t have to happen this way. The GOP have blood on their hands.

BSG, I regretfully declare your link above has no value to most of the MAGA supporters. It says 'former Obama' in the corner and that is the signal to turn away faster than the Levite in Luke 10:32. I was talking on the phone to my S I L (who is and old Carter hater, J or H, from way back) she is a mid-Westerner, mostly Iowa and Missouri), a very experienced pediatric and administration RN. My wife is now in the hospital (non-Cov19 problems) and I was sharing with my SIL the problems of no visitors period allowed in the hospital. The conversation naturally morphed into a discussion of the general and local policies dealing with this pandemic. She could not even hear any data indicating any responsibility for the current crisis aimed at the federal government. POTUS has been doing a wonderful job managing it all. Any problems are just due to bad information given him, of bad information (fake news) about it.
This all reminded me of Moses who had to lead them all around in circles in the wilderness until those who had lived in Egypt all died, including Moses.
Sorry for the biblical references. It is due to the solar and lunar calendars coming together about now and I cannot share a meal with my fellow believers.

Re: Coronavirus
Yeah, I’ve given up hope that anyone still supporting Trump today is ever going to see the light - except maybe if someone they love dies from covid19.
But with any luck - if we are even allowed to hold an election in November - the tens of millions of eligible voters who sit on their asses every 2 years might just get motivated to pick up a pen, lick a stamp and pop their ballot in the mail. Maybe.

Apparently some in the US Navy think we should just subject all the sailors on the Big Stick and other carriers to a herd immunity experiment and see how that works out. Because we can’t risk China starting a war with us while the whole globe battles a pandemic.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Re: Coronavirus
I have no doubt that this crisis has had a significant impact on US military readiness; undoubtedly to greater extent than the public does (or should ) know...we can’t risk China starting a war with us while the whole globe battles a pandemic.
The "good news" (if that's what you want to call it) is that those countries that would normally be counted on to attempt to exploit this situation... like Iran, China, Russia,...(The Russians in particular have been lying their butts off about the extent of infection in their country) are in the same boat we are, and thus are poorly positioned to make any substantial territory grabs or other aggressive military moves...
