How many know that Taiwan businesses have factories in China? If the US recognizes Taiwan as an independent nation what will happen to those ties?

Will Taiwanese be persona non grata to China? Will they have to move their manufacturing elsewhere?

Can China be Versaillesed, in a manner of speaking, with equally bad results as occurred with Germany?

Bringing China into the world community has not worked out well when you consider their colonial thrust.

Question: will the lawsuits in other countries ultimately result in the seizure of Chinese assets in those countries?

Maybe... but maybe not.

I cannot fathom the depth of the extent of the effect of one thing on the other.

First the tariffs and now the pandemic is causing change.

"The full extent of the societal and economic trauma the coronavirus pandemic may cause is unknown still, the Kearney report’s authors wrote. But whatever the outcome, a return to status quo China trade pre-pandemic is unlikely.

Kearney predicts companies “will be compelled to go much further in rethinking their sourcing strategies, (and) their entire supply chains.”"

"Xi fears Japan-led manufacturing exodus from China

The year of the metal rat returns every 60 years -- and brings calamity with it

In Zhongnanhai, the area in central Beijing where leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and the state government have their offices, "there are now serious concerns over foreign companies withdrawing from China," a Chinese economic source said. "What has particularly been talked about is the clause in Japan's emergency economic package that encourages (and funds) the re-establishment of supply chains.""

For those who have been following the Huawei dust up from last year, this is another boner for China.

"The UK is moving to drop Huawei as a vendor for the country’s 5G cellphone network in a major blow to Communist China over poor coronavirus transparency.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, now recovering from COVID-19, gave the Chinese company a role in 5G infrastructure this year, squashing opposition last month by 24 votes in the 650-seat House of Commons.

But now, concern about the Chinese Communist Party’s inaccurate reporting on the coronavirus has lawmakers crafting plans for a retreat.

“We need to devise a proper, realistic exit strategy from relying on Huawei,” Conservative Member of Parliament Damian Green told Bloomberg News. “Our telecom providers … need to know the government is determined to drive down Huawei’s involvement to zero percent over a realistic timescale.”"

While some of the things have been posted from other articles this one is a good summary. I'll add that the goofy governor of Illinois that sent a plane to China for a load of masks got screwed.

"How well-disposed do you think the leaders of Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, Australia and the Czech Republic are toward China at the moment? All of those countries have been on the receiving end of defective PPE and test kits, Chinese medical supplies that failed to contain the virus.

Even an official in Iran, China’s closest ally in the Middle East, has bitterly complained about the Chinese lies that cost the lives of thousands of his fellow citizens."

...

"In the next year, the Chinese economy will suffer a death by a thousand cuts: a resumption of the Trump tariffs, supply chains relocating to other countries, factories moving to freer climes, consumers around the world rejecting China’s wares.

No single cut will be fatal. But taken together, they will bleed China’s economy dry. They may also, it is to be hoped, shake the corrupt and incompetent Chinese Communist Party to its very foundations."

Surprise, surprise, surprise. Think Gomer Pyle.

"NEW YORK (Reuters) - Residents of a suburban New York City county that was one of the earliest U.S. hot spots for the coronavirus sued the World Health Organization on Monday, accusing it of gross negligence in covering up and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a proposed class action, three residents of Westchester County accused the WHO of failing to quickly declare a pandemic, monitor China's response to the original outbreak, provide treatment guidelines, advise members on how to respond including through travel restrictions, and coordinate a global response.

They also accused the WHO of conspiring with China's government, which was not named as a defendant, to cover up COVID-19's severity."

I'll take asshole lawyers for a gazillion dollars, Alex.

You can bet your ass, lawyers are salivating over suing China. China though its government owned businesses has lots of assets in the US that could be seized and sold if they get a judgement.

Sorry cloth eyes, you said they were trying to sue WHO (not China) - which sounds like Sue U but not the same at all.

Suing WHO doesn't mean a hill of beans to China or its assets. But it's handy that the USA is principle funder of WHO and therefore any judgement will be partly paid by er.... Donald Trumpedupstories.

Can one sue WHO? If not, WHO can one sue. Or did you think Sue Who was a Chinese person?

I thought it was a bit early. I'm waiting for the ads to start. I can see millions suing for the paralyzing fear that gripped them and left them trembling at home, snacking, gaining weight and turning diabetic.

I always wondered how 'you' were going to bring suit if 'you' had died from whatever chemical/implant/additive/treatment/malady was currently the hot topic of the month.  I see that the ambulance chasers have since then changed it to "loved ones".

And of course, what these "attorneys" are doing is nothing more than clerical work.  Take the Monsanto/Round-up ads.  We all know Monsanto has been court-ordered to set aside a sum to settle claims against them; all these "attorneys" like Lickspittle, Schlock, and Barrister are doing is filing the paperwork for you — at XX dollars per hour billable time — to get a (thin) share of the pie.  And then, when you get your sixty-nine cent payout — well, they "won" your case and you owe them the agreed-upon fees.

"A lawsuit has been lodged against China over the coronavirus pandemic for over $6 trillion, accusing the Chinese Communist Party of negligence, lies and cover-up.

The class action suit brought by the Berman Law Group in Florida against the Chinese Communist Party has so far signed up 10,000 people, including grieving family members of those who have died after contracting COVID-19 and healthcare workers who have suffered as a result of a lack of personal protective equipment.

Jeremy Alters, the chief strategist behind the lawsuit in Florida, told 60 Minutes getting China to pay up is about taking accountability for the tragic human and economic devastated that has crippled the world."
