Day 2 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.
Sorry I'm late getting this posted. I do side gigs as a consultant.
I've been busy helping a man in Missouri set up dude hunts for wild hogs. He can get some of the old FEMA trailers for free for an authentic roughing experience. He's working with an attorney to draw up a bullet proof contract to absolve him of any and all damage and carnage.
He figures with the disruption in the meat supply he'll have people coming in from the big cities in droves.

Re: Day 2 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.
Sorry Darren: you had me at "some of the old FEMA trailers for free for an authentic roughing experience' - how does a trailer give an authentic roughing experience? I can only assume that they are burning it in the campfire while sleeping under the stars but they need to be wary: all that glue and acrylic foam gives off toxic gases when burned.
Re: Day 2 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.
He's abandoned the idea even though he still skins, guts and smokes the smaller ones on occasion. The problem is the prohibition of shooting hogs on state and federal land. That makes the enterprise dependent on private landowners with large acreages,RayThom wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 2:43 pmSo Darren, don't just stop there. I suggested he call up Donnie and get an okey dokey for hog hunting on federal land added as a BTW to the declaration of emergency. He declined to pursue that option.

5 types of customers since the “rona”:
1) Steve: He has been waiting for this moment his whole life. He has been drinking boilermakers since 10:00 am in his recliner and his AR is within arms reach. He has 6 months provisions in the basement and a bug out bag due west buried in the woods. Steve demands a handshake as I give him his package. He’s sizing me up as I deliver his ammo.
Steve will survive this, and he will kill you if he needs to.
2) Brad: He is standing at his window wearing skinny jeans and a Patagonia t-shirt. He is mad because there were no organic tomatoes at Whole Foods today. He points at the ground where he has taped a 6 ft no go zone line from his porch. I leave his case of Fuji water, organic granola bites, and his new “Bernie Bro” hat at the tape.
Brad will not survive. Steve will probably eat him.
3) Nancy: She has sprayed everything with Thieves oil. Bought all the Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, meat, and bread from the local grocery chain. She has quarantined her kids and sprays them with a mixture of thieves, lavender, & mint essential oils daily. She has posted every link known to man about “The Rona” on her social media. She will spray you if you break the 6 ft rule. I will leave her yet another case of toilet paper.
She will last longer than Brad, but not Steve.
4) Karen: She has called everybody and read them the latest news on “The Rona”. She asked for the manager at Food Lion, Walmart, Publix, McDonalds, Chi-Fil-A, and Vons all before noon demanding more toilet paper. Karen’s kids are currently faking “The Rona” to avoid her. I’m delivering “Hello kitchen” to her.
Karen will not survive longer than Brad.
5) Mary: Is sitting in the swing watching her kids have a water balloon fight in the front yard as she is on her fourth glass of wine. She went to the store and bought 2 cases of pop tarts, 6 boxes of cereal, 8 bags of pizza rolls, And a 6 roll pack of toilet paper. There is a playlist of Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, and Post Malone playing in the background. I’m bringing her second shipment of 15 bottles of wine in 3 days.
Mary will survive and marry Steve. Together they will repopulate the earth. May God have mercy on us all.

USA totals as of the end of "Day2":
532,879 total cases (1,610 per million) | 20,577 total deaths (62 per million) | 2,670,674 total tests (8,068 per million)

Re: Day 2 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.
The Chinese laboratory at the center of scrutiny over a potential coronavirus leak has been using U.S. government money to carry out research on bats from the caves which scientists believe are the original source of the deadly outbreak.
The Wuhan Institute of Virology undertook coronavirus experiments on mammals captured more than 1,000 miles away in Yunnan which were funded by a $3.7 million grant from the US government.
Sequencing of the COVID-19 genome has traced it back to bats found in Yunnan caves but it was first thought to have transferred to humans at an animal market in Wuhan.
The revelation that the Wuhan Institute was experimenting on bats from the area already known to be the source of COVID-19 - and doing so with American money - has sparked further fears that the lab, and not the market, is the original outbreak source.
US Congressman Matt Gaetz said: 'I'm disgusted to learn that for years the US government has been funding dangerous and cruel animal experiments at the Wuhan Institute, which may have contributed to the global spread of coronavirus, and research at other labs in China that have virtually no oversight from US authorities.'
On Saturday, Anthony Bellotti, president of the US pressure group White Coat Waste, condemned his government for spending tax dollars in China, adding: 'Animals infected with viruses or otherwise sickened and abused in Chinese labs reportedly may be sold to wet markets for consumption once experiments are done.'
The $37million Wuhan Institute of Virology, the most advanced laboratory of its type on the Chinese mainland, is based twenty miles from the now infamous wildlife market that was thought to be the location of the original transfer of the virus from animals to humans.
According to documents obtained by The Mail on Sunday, scientists there experimented on bats as part of a project funded by the US National Institutes of Health, which continues to licence the Wuhan laboratory to receive American money for experiments.
The NIH is the primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and public health research.
The Wuhan Institute lists them on their website as a partner as well as several other American academic institutions.
Other U.S. partners include the University of Alabama, the University of North Texas, Harvard University, and the National Wildlife Federation.
As part of the NIH research at the institute, scientists grew a coronavirus in a lab and injected it into three-day-old piglets.
The news that COVID-19 bats were under research there means that a leak from the Wuhan laboratory can no longer be completely ruled out.

The US has a history of using research from other countries that wouldn't pass the lowest of ethic standards. We grabbed the Japanese "torture" results following WW II. I suspect the German "studies" also found a welcome home someplace in the US.
I wonder who in the NIH thought funding the Chinese to do potential biological warfare research was a good idea.
Trump has already started weeding out federal employees with poor judgement at higher levels. Here's hoping those farther down the food change get the same attention.

Proofread your drivel next time before you post it. If I were someone who was new to the board and didn't know you as well as those of us who are here regularly do, I would think that Gob had posted that business about WWII data from the Japanese and the Germans.Darren wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 2:25 pmGob wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 7:36 amI read that. The Chinese laboratory at the center of scrutiny over a potential coronavirus leak has been using U.S. government money to carry out research on bats from the caves which scientists believe are the original source of the deadly outbreak.

To address your statement, however, there is a germ of truth to it. Say whatever bad things you want to about the Germans, they at least knew how to keep good records, and the data and other information amassed by the Nazis through the 'experiments' of Josef Mengele did find a home in the US and elsewhere. Just because this information was obtained under less-than-humane circumstances doesn't make the findings any less valid and, just to use the studies on hypothermia on behalf of the Luftwaffe as only one example, by using some of this information as a starting point we have been able to make vast strides forward from there. Dr. John Hayward of the University of Victoria in Vancouver summed it up best in 1984 when he was quoted thusly in the medical journal 'Hasting Center Report':
And we see that even today. Experiences of the US military since 1945, first in Korea and later on in Vietnam, in the treatment of traumatic injuries have also translated back into modern-day medicine in emergency rooms across the country. It is not at all far-fetched to say that there are countless gunshot victims as well as victims of traumatic car and aircraft crashes who have survived, and owe that survival in no small part to some of the things learned from the treatment of soldiers in these two conflicts and some of the material gleaned from the Japanese and the Nazis in WWII."I don't want to have to use the Nazi data, but there is no other and will be no other in an ethical world. I've rationalized it a bit. But not to use it would be equally bad. I'm trying to make something constructive out of it. I use it with my guard up, but it's useful."
But Trump himself, who should have been among the first to go, is still there. Go figure.Darren post_id=284583 time=1586701530 user_id=121708 wrote:Trump has already started weeding out federal employees with poor judgement at higher levels.
