But that’s my point. Victoria’s male children and grandchildren and great grandchildren weren’t terribly long-lived. Edward and Bertie, in particular, were physically weak and ill. George and Edward (the earlier) were in poor health for a long time before they died, relatively young.

It took Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon to add some backbone and long life into the family (and yes, the Greek prince may have helped a bit too).
