A Blue Whale was spotted off the coast of Vancouver Island this morning. The Blue Whale is the largest animal to ever grace this planet. The largest dinosaur was the Saurapod which weighed up to 85 tons. Some male Blue Whales weigh as much as 200 tons. A Blue Whales heart is 6 feet wide and weighs 400 lbs. When a Blue Whale gives birth the calfs are approx 25 feet long. Most Blue Whale deaths are a direct result from collisions with marine vessels

Are there blue whales in that piece of the Pacific? Yes. Are they big? Huge. Is that a blue whale? Don't think so: a blue whale does not have that very squared off skull. Looks more like a sperm whale to me. A big male sperm whale is around 60 feet (blues can make it to 100 feet). If that boat is 10 feet long, that whale is 140 feet, and that's not accounting for the angle from which the picture appears to have been taken.
Fun with Photoshop.

We used to go whale watching every November when I lived in Australia. They are magnificent creatures.
